It is non-systemic, which means, no medication side effects. If you feel like nothing has worked, don’t give up yet. A different path may make all the difference.

5 Common Questions Before Starting TMS
Thinking about TMS for depression? Here are a few common questions:
1. What is TMS?
TMS is a noninvasive treatment that uses magnetic pulses to stimulate areas of the brain involved in mood regulation.
2. Is it medication?
No. TMS is not a medication and does not require anesthesia. Many people are able to return to normal daily activities after a session.
3. Who is it for?
TMS may be an option for some people with depression who have not improved enough with prior treatment.
4. Do I need a consultation first?
Yes. A consultation helps determine whether TMS may be appropriate based on symptoms, treatment history, safety factors, and insurance requirements.
5. Where is it offered?
TMS consultations are available at Hendricks Therapy in Plainfield, IN

TMS is not talk therapy, and it is not medication.

TMS is a non-invasive brain stimulation treatment used for depression. During treatment, magnetic pulses are delivered to targeted areas of the brain involved in mood regulation.

Patients remain awake during sessions, and treatment is provided in an outpatient setting.

TMS may be covered by most insurance plans, including Medicare, for patients who meet eligibility requirements.

For some individuals, antidepressant medication alone may not provide enough symptom relief.

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, or TMS, is an FDA-cleared, non-medication treatment option that may be considered when depression symptoms have not improved adequately after prior medication treatment.

TMS uses targeted magnetic pulses to gently stimulate specific areas of the brain involved in mood regulation. Treatment is performed in an outpatient setting, does not require anesthesia, and patients remain awake during each session. Patients can return to their daily activities after each treatment.

TMS is not right for everyone, but for appropriate candidates, it may be part of a broader care plan guided by a qualified mental health professional.

To learn more about TMS and whether it may be an appropriate option, contact Hendricks Therapy in Plainfield, Indiana, by calling/texting (317) 718-8436.

Mental Health Tip: Permission to Pause
Even a few minutes to breathe deeply, stretch, step outside, or disconnect from screens can help reset your mind and body. Try the 5-4-3-2-1 grounding technique during stressful moments.
• 5 things you can see
• 4 things you can touch
• 3 things you can hear
• 2 things you can smell
• 1 thing you can taste
This simple exercise can help bring your focus back to the present moment and reduce feelings of stress or anxiety. Small habits can support overall well-being over time. Remember, taking care of yourself is an important part of staying healthy. Hendricks Therapy is here to help. Call/text us at (317) 718-8436.

Mental Health Tip: Having "Good Days"

Reflect on what a “Good Day” looks like for you. “Good” doesn’t have to mean happy or productive. It might mean feeling calm, steady, or simply getting through the day.

Instead of a "To-Do" list, which can trigger anxiety about the future, try a "Done" list at the end of the day to visualize accomplishments, no matter how small.
