Cancer was the best thing that ever happened to me. Not because it was enjoyable, because I made sure I learned from it.
I could say treatment wrecked my body, drained my savings, and cost me friends and my old way of life. Instead I choose to say it forced me to take care of myself, showed me what actually matters, and pushed me to build a life I love.
No matter what you go through, you can learn and grow from it, or let it destroy you. It’s not that easy. But it’s true.
My life is better in almost every way. I’ve traveled the world. My mom is healthier. My hometown learned skills they didn’t have. I found my purpose, and I’ve used it to help thousands of people feel more in control of their lives.
None of it was given to me. I fought for all of it.
You don’t need a life-threatening illness to start. You just have to decide you want something different, and go after it.
What are you choosing to make out of what you’ve been through?
