Have you checked in with yourself today?
Not your schedule.
Not your to-do list.
You.

We spend so much time checking on everyone else.
Today's reminder: check in with yourself, too.
How are you...really?

Grief doesn’t always look like tears.

Sometimes it looks like hypervigilance. Difficulty sleeping. Feeling emotionally numb. Avoiding reminders. Or feeling like your body is still bracing for something terrible to happen.

Especially after a sudden, unexpected, or distressing loss, grief and trauma can overlap. The loss is real, and your nervous system may still be trying to process what happened.

Healing isn’t about forgetting. It’s about helping both your heart and your body learn that they don’t have to stay in survival mode forever.

Grief is rarely about just one loss.

When someone dies—or when life changes in a significant way—we often grieve the secondary losses too. The routines that disappeared. The person you called first. The future you imagined. The holidays that feel different. The version of yourself that existed before everything changed.

Sometimes those secondary losses are the ones that catch us off guard because no one prepared us for them.

If your grief feels bigger than the event itself, you’re not “doing grief wrong.” You’re grieving all the pieces that changed alongside it.

You don't have to explain why you're tired.
Sometimes your mind and body already know.

Not all exhaustion comes from doing too much.
Sometimes it comes from carrying too much.

Be gentle with yourself today.

What if your body isn’t “overreacting”?

What if it’s doing exactly what it was designed to do?

Healing from trauma isn’t only about understanding your story. It’s also about helping your nervous system experience safety again. That’s why I incorporate somatic approaches like Brainspotting—to support healing in both the mind and the body.

Your body has been trying to protect you all along.

We often offer patience, grace, and encouragement to others while being our own harshest critic.
What would change if you offered yourself the same kindness?

The perfect squishy does exist… and it comes with a reminder. 🧠

Your brain isn’t fixed. It’s constantly learning, adapting, and changing. That’s one of the reasons I love talking about neuroplasticity—because healing is possible.

You don't have to wait until you're falling apart to ask for help.
Therapy isn't just for crisis.
Sometimes it's for clarity.

You don't have to have all the right words or a major life event to begin therapy.
Sometimes you simply want to understand yourself better—and that's reason enough.

The goal of therapy was never for you to need my voice forever.

It’s to practice new ways of responding to yourself until they become your own.

Over time, the critical voice gets quieter. The compassionate one gets stronger.

As therapists, hearing, “I heard your voice this week,” isn’t about us.

It’s hearing that your own inner voice is beginning to sound a little safer, a little kinder, and a little more regulated.

That’s the goal. 🤍
