Every once in a while, something happens that reminds us of what community is really all about. Recently, a devastating fire at the Windsor Lakes Apartment Homes in Woodridge displaced more than sixty individuals and families. In a matter of hours, people lost their homes and many of the belongings that were part of their everyday lives. It is difficult to imagine what it must feel like to suddenly have to leave your home with little more than what you were able to take with you.

In the aftermath of this tragedy, Woodridge Mayor Gina Cunningham reached out to the community and shared the many ways people can help. The list of needs is extensive; blankets, clothing, personal care items, gift cards, fuel cards, food, furniture, household items and monetary donations. These are the simple, everyday things that can become incredibly important when someone has lost almost everything.

🌳🚧 Storm Cleanup: We’re coming for your branches.

After another weekend of storms, our crews are back at it.

This week, we’ll be focusing branch pickup between Cass Ave. and Clarendon Hills Rd. in the highlighted area on the map.

If you’re in the pickup area, please move storm-related branches to the curb or parkway and keep them clear of storm drains, hydrants and utility boxes.

Commissioner Tom has a map. The crews have a plan. The woodchipper is hungry.

Let’s go! 🌳 💪

Good words by City of Darien, Illinois Mayor!

During last Sunday’s Mass, our pastor spoke about forgiveness; a subject that, in many ways, feels especially relevant to the world we live in today.

He spoke about how easily we can fall into the mindset of “getting back” at someone when we feel we have been offended, insulted, or hurt. It can sometimes seem easier to hold on to our anger than to let go of it. But he also reminded us of the beauty that can come with forgiveness.
