I am excited to partner with the Jafuta Foundation this summer to bring critically needed medical outreach and the wellness practice of Empowerment through Dance to the Dibutibu Community of Zimbabwe.
Together with the Foundation and my wife Stacey Clarfield Newman, we are outfitting vehicles to bring medical care and diagnostics to rural areas and to the community center, reaching a population that desperately needs our help.
Our Empowerment Through Dance program incorporates YogaDance and creativity as a means to embody self awareness, healing and self esteem for children and adults. This year's focus is on the young girls and women of Dibutibu, guiding them through movement to find their inner voice and authentic self.
This year is especially critical:
The community is facing a severe drought due to El Nino, causing famine. Many parts of Zimbabwe are experiencing a cholera outbreak.
Community members and their families will benefit from the distribution of healthy meals @ the center during the Wellness Program to combat hunger.
