You’ll hear us talk about the powerhouse a lot in Classical Pilates. But what exactly does that mean?

Your powerhouse is more than just your abdominals. It’s the connection between your abdominals, back, hips, glutes and pelvis that supports and organizes your movement.

In Classical Pilates, movement begins from the powerhouse and travels outward. Whether you’re moving your arms, extending your legs, or working on the Reformer, the goal is to stay connected rather than letting one part of the body do all the work.
