Wearing a life jacket is required under Washington State law and is one of the most effective ways to reduce the risk of drowning.

Did you know?
✔ Life jackets should be snug, adjusted properly, and rest on the shoulders
✔ If a life jacket can be pulled over the wearer’s ears, it is too loose
✔ Inspect regularly for wear and replace if damaged
✔ Dry after use to maintain quality

Your eyes change with age, but vision loss doesn't have to be part of aging.

If you're 65 or older, regular comprehensive eye exams are one of the best ways to protect your sight. Many serious eye diseases, including glaucoma, cataracts, and age-related macular degeneration, can develop without noticeable symptoms.

A comprehensive eye exam can detect eye diseases early, when they're often most treatable, and may even reveal signs of other health conditions like diabetes or stroke.

Adults age 65 and older should schedule a comprehensive eye exam every 1–2 years, or more often if recommended by their ophthalmologist.

Wildfire smoke is expected to increase across Lincoln County, and air quality may worsen over the next few days.

Smoke can affect everyone, but young children, older adults, pregnant people, and those with heart or lung conditions are especially vulnerable.

If the air looks smoky or air quality is poor:
✔ Limit time outdoors and avoid strenuous activity.
✔ Keep windows and doors closed when possible.
✔ Use a HEPA air purifier if you have one.
✔ Check in on family, friends, and neighbors who may be more sensitive to smoke.
✔ If you need to be outside for an extended period, wear a properly fitted N95 respirator.

Air quality can change quickly. Before heading outside, check current conditions at AirNow (www.airnow.gov) or the Washington Smoke Blog (www.wasmoke.blogspot.com).

Lincoln County Public Health encourages everyone to learn the facts about viral hepatitis and take steps to protect their liver health.

Many people living with hepatitis B or hepatitis C do not have symptoms, making early testing essential.

You can help prevent hepatitis by:
✔ Getting tested if you are at risk or have never been screened
✔ Receiving recommended hepatitis A and hepatitis B vaccinations
✔ Practicing safe hygiene and avoiding exposure to infected blood
✔ Seeking medical care early (effective treatment is available for hepatitis B, and hepatitis C can often be cured)

Know your status. Protect your liver. Help stop hepatitis.
