Simple kitchen activities are packed with functional goals:
🔹 Twisting bread ties: Pincer grasp & finger isolation
🔹 Opening jars: Hand strength & bilateral integration
🔹 Handling bread: Force control (not smashing the slice!)
🔹 Spreading with a knife: Tool use & motor planning

While this clip is short, the therapeutic work behind it is incredibly intentional. A classic game like this allows our therapists to target multiple developmental milestones at once:

🧩 Occupational Therapy (OT): Focuses on the precise grasp of the rod, bilateral coordination (using both hands), and the hand-eye timing needed to catch the fish.
🗣️ Speech Therapy (ST): Capitalizes on the natural motivation of the game to practice functional core words (like "open," "go," and "my turn") and build joint attention.

What is Gestalt Language Processing?

🧩 Not all children learn language one word at a time.

Some children are Gestalt Language Processors (GLPs). Instead of learning individual words first, they learn and use whole phrases or "chunks" of language that they've heard.

For example, instead of saying "I'm hungry," a child might say:
💬 "Let's get something to eat!"

These phrases may come from conversations, books, favorite movies, or songs. Over time, children learn to break these phrases apart and create their own original sentences.

Every child's communication journey is unique—and that's okay! ❤️
