Is your schedule filled with summer travels? Whether you are catching a flight or road tripping across state lines, good biomechanics make all the difference in staying comfortable and pain-free.

Start by aligning your spine in your seat: sit with your hips all the way back in the seat, your feet flat on the floor, and knees at or below hip level. If you experience back pain, it may help roll a towel or pillow at the small of your lower back to help support your spine’s natural curve. Take breaks often to stretch and walk around.

Lifting bags into an overhead bin? Draw your belly button towards your spine before you lift. Add a slight bend in your knees to avoid arching your back. Once your bag is at chest level, the motion should be a press up from your shoulders. Avoid swinging and jerking movements.

We hope that helps and safe travels!

It was another year of fun and tradition as Palmer Clinics joined the Quad Cities for the Bix 7!

Our Palmer Spine, led by Dr. Margrave and Palmer students made it up the Brady Street Hill with many smiles along the way!

Thank you to the patients who stopped by the Palmer tent at the finish line to get back in alignment and enjoy the rest of the Bix festivities. If you didn’t get a chance to get adjusted, give us a call at 563-884-5801 to schedule your next appointment today!

A massive thank you to our incredible Clinic team for helping out at this Quad Cities tradition.

EXCITING NEWS! The Perry Street clinic entrance has reopened!

Patients can now enter through the Perry Street Clinic entry doors during clinic operating hours. This includes the clinic's front elevator and stairwell.

A temporary wall has been installed to restrict access to the remainder of the lower-level and signage is in place to help direct traffic through the area safely.

We appreciate your patience as we invest in our clinic. These changes will support better outcomes for your health and a better learning environment for our students.

If you have any questions, give us a call at 563-884-5801.

Meet Kevin Percuoco, D.C., Cert. MDT one of our Faculty Clinicians at Palmer Clinics. Dr. Percuoco attended Palmer College of Chiropractic and graduated in 2016.

WHY DID YOU BECOME A DOCTOR OF CHIROPRACTIC?

“I have always been interested in health care and the sciences. A conservative approach to health and wellness—one that emphasizes healthy lifestyle habits and behaviors—resonated with me as an effective way to help people improve their health. I also had several family members who became chiropractors before me, which influenced my decision to pursue the profession.”

WHAT IS YOUR ADVICE FOR PATIENTS?

“Find a form of physical activity that is both sustainable and meaningful to you—and make it a regular part of your life.”

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT BEING A CHIROPRACTOR?

“I enjoy the variety of people I meet, helping with the diverse health concerns they bring, and the opportunity to support them in reaching their goals. I find it rewarding to help individuals identify personalized strategies for overcoming health and wellness challenges.”

Dr. Percuoco holds Diplomate status with the American Chiropractic Rehabilitation Board (DACRB) and is certified in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT). His clinical approach may incorporate a variety of evidence-informed strategies, including the McKenzie Method®, Motion Palpation, Diversified technique, Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM), and strength and conditioning principles.

Spring and summer sports are back in full swing, and whether you’re hitting the baseball diamond, running track, or getting back on the soccer field, your body is being pushed in new ways. With the increase in activity comes a higher risk of injury, especially if your body isn’t moving as efficiently as it should.

Chiropractic care plays a key role in helping athletes perform at their best. Proper joint mobility, spinal alignment, and nervous system function all contribute to better coordination and faster reaction times. When your body is in alignment, it doesn’t just feel better - it works better.

Spring and summer athletes commonly deal with issues like muscle strains, joint stiffness, and overuse injuries. These often come from repetitive motions, sudden increases in training intensity, or lingering imbalances from the off-season. Chiropractic adjustments, combined with mobility work and targeted exercises, can help correct these imbalances before they turn into bigger problems.

Recovery is just as important as performance. Regular chiropractic care helps reduce inflammation, improve circulation, and support faster healing, so you can spend more time playing and less time sidelined.

Whether you’re a competitive athlete or just enjoying being active again in the warmer weather, taking care of your body should be a priority. Don’t wait until something hurts to address it.

Stay aligned, stay mobile, and make this your strongest season yet.
