Condition: chronic recurrent corneal erosions
Cause: chronic dry eye (multifactorial, can be due to evaporative or manorial gland or mechanical trauma)
Pain: moderate to severe
Treatment: radio frequency and IPL! Lumenis Vision and supportive treatment such as PM ointment and bandage contact lenses, lid hygiene and warm compresses!
Surgical options also available for severe cases with PTK and keratrctomy!

Important part of this story is to see your eye doctors and surgeons annually to prevent getting to this point!

Huge breaking point! What an exciting time we’re living in!

The procedure, led by Professor Michele Reibaldi at Molinette Hospital, involved transplanting the anterior segment of the eye and the central portion of the retina from one eye to the other, reconstructing Elena’s vision in one eye using tissue from both eyes, per La Sicilia and La Stampa.

Join us as we welcome our newest Owl Managing OD to Miami and Blinking owl family! We’re so excited!

Dr. Heather Donovan earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the New England College of Optometry. She completed clinical rotations at the VA, community health centers, medically focused ophthalmology practices, and specialty contact lens practices.

Dr. Donovan’s clinical interests include primary eye care, myopia control, and dry eye management.

Originally from the Boston area, Dr. Donovan is excited to call South Florida home. You can also find her teaching fitness classes at [solidcore] in gables and south beach!

We had a lovely discussion about the importance of premium daily disposable lenses regardless of patient status. Everyone deserve to feel comfortable and luxury in their eyes and it starts with doctors advocating for their patients
