Both realities are valid.

But once you truly see, you cannot go back to not seeing.
You cannot force yourself back into denial just to preserve comfort.

The grief asks to be felt because it is trying to lead you somewhere:
toward clarity, toward truth, and ultimately toward a relationship with yourself that is no longer built around abandoning what you know.

Every couple will hit moments that bring up hurt, defensiveness, or big emotions. That’s normal. What actually determines the health of the relationship is what happens after.

Repair is what brings you back.

But here’s the part people don’t talk about enough:
Repair is messy.

It’s not a perfectly worded apology.
It’s not one conversation where everything lands beautifully.
And it’s definitely not always received right away.

Sometimes repair looks like:
Coming back again.
Trying again.
Saying it differently.
Softening, even when you’re still hurt.

It’s two people choosing not to give up on the connection.

And over time, with enough persistence and care, something shifts.
Safety comes back.
Connection rebuilds.
And you both get to exhale.

Most of us weren’t taught how to listen to our emotions—only how to manage, suppress, or “fix” them.

So we do all the “right things”:
We distract. We rationalize. We push through.
And still… something feels off.

That’s because the problem isn’t always what you’re doing.
It’s where you’re doing it from.

👉 If your entry point is to get rid of the emotion, you’re already misattuned.

Chronic misattunement creates a quiet kind of chaos:
Confusion.
Second-guessing.
A constant, low-grade panic—because your internal system isn’t being met.

Attunement is different.

It sounds like:

* “What is this emotion trying to tell me?”
* “What does this part of me actually need right now?”

Not fixing.
Not silencing.
Understanding.

Because every emotion carries data:

Anger → Where was a boundary crossed?
Fear → Where do I need safety or reassurance?
Sadness → What needs to be grieved or acknowledged?

If you skip that step, you can do all the coping skills in the world…
and still feel stuck.
Your emotions aren’t the problem.
Misattunement is.

And the shift isn’t complicated—but it is intentional:
👉 Slow down
👉 Get curious
👉 Meet the need before trying to move on

That’s what actually changes things.

Nuance looks like:

* “I can feel hurt and understand your intention.”
* “I disagree with you and still respect you.”
* “My perspective is valid and incomplete.”

The moment we believe there is only one correct lens,
we stop listening—we start defending.

And that’s where conflict hardens.

Because resolution doesn’t come from winning an argument.
It comes from expanding the frame.

Holding multiple truths doesn’t mean you’re weak or indecisive.
It means your mind is flexible enough to make room for reality.

If we want less polarization—in our relationships, our families, our communities—
we have to tolerate the discomfort of complexity.

That’s the work.

No shame—just awareness.Because awareness is where repair becomes possible.

How much time do you spend filtering, fighting with, pushing down, or even accepting your judgements?

It’s a losing battle because there are automatic stories and/or beliefs that were created so long ago that we didn’t even have the opportunity to question them.

We can’t fight them, but we can learn to understand where they come from and decide if they serve us or not. What that judgement protects or is trying to tell us about ourselves and DECIDE it aligns what we believe today.

When we pause and place distance from our judgments we can make different choices and that is the work that can give us clarify and freedom to live our life with more INTENTION.
