I’ve always had an overwhelming desire to help other people and find a way for society to be more equitable. If you look at the story of my life it’s extremely clear. It’s copacetically indubitable, if you will.

I know I’m not the only one.

What I see happening often though, is people get stuck on the charitable/altruistic aspect of their being and forget that you do need to make some type of profit to keep the machine going.

Here’s one way I got around it. With my nonprofit Mindy’s Planet I wanted to serve the underserved. The underserved are typically in poverty with 0 discretionary income.

The things that help them most cost money. Period.

I still have, yanno… my own bills and a life so I couldn’t just give everything away and help a bunch of people for free. So I priced it into my products and services.

COGS for one kit was $4.80. I sold it for $16 so that with the profits I could afford to give away another kit for free.

I’m a creative firm because I truly believe you can do whatever you want. You might just have to get a bit creative with it.

So question: What’s something charitable or philanthropic you want to see more of ?

I’m not a huge fan of people building their websites themselves to be honest but I understand why that’s the move sometimes.

Number 1 issue is typically budget. Like… I PROMISE I understand lol

One of the main differences between web design and web development is that a properly developed website works for you… a designed website just looks good. You still have to do ALL the work to get people to see it.

One simple way to move from just design towards development is to work on search engine optimization for each page and photo on your website.

You can start with something as easy as making sure your city is stated on each page of your website. Why ? It makes it way more likely that you’ll show up in “near me” type search inquiries.

Living with intention isn’t easy. A friend/client just posted about that yesterday actually. When you’re used to kinda just mindlessly doing things and going throughout the world disassociated, living in your head… it’s hard to consistently tune back in. It takes lots of physical energy. Tires you out and prevents you from comfortably doing other things you want to do.

If the right or best things were easy, everyone would be doing them.

Remember that.

I follow the pillars of mindfulness to help me continue living with intention. I make sure that extends to my business and is where my Conscious Businessing idea came from. Any of yall familiar with them ?
