CARE House

CARE House CARE House is a child-focused, facility-based program that provides a centralized, coordinated response to outcries of abuse.

Children's advocacy centers are child-focused, facility-based programs. Although some aspects of a multidisciplinary approach to child abuse can exist without a neutral facility, a designated facility is fundamental to a children's advocacy center. The location is generally separate from any agency involved in the intervention process It is designed to create a sense of safety and security for the children. Children's advocacy centers emphasize the coordination of investigation and intervention services by bringing together professionals and agencies as a multidisciplinary team to create a child-focused approach to child abuse cases.

The John Pirelli Lodge was filled with incredible energy and community spirit on August 15th as it proudly hosted the Bocce Tournament to Benefit CARE House. This fantastic family-friendly event successfully blended light-hearted competition with a powerful purpose, bringing people together to support vulnerable youth in our community. Thanks to the generosity of participants, local supporters, and an impressive display of over thirty raffle baskets, the event raised an astounding $27,790!

We want to express our deepest gratitude to Joe and Terri Baldasare, as well as their entire dedicated committee, who worked tirelessly before, during, and after the event to ensure its massive success. It’s National Forensic Interviewers Week! 🌟 This week, we recognize the incredible professionals at our Child Advocacy Centers who play a critical role in child protection.

When a child discloses abuse, it is a forensic interviewer who facilitates a safe environment to help them share their story. By bringing together medical, legal, and mental health professionals, our CACs—CARE House in Montgomery County and Michael’s House in Greene County—ensure that every child is supported from the initial investigation through the healing process.

Please help us thank our interviewers for your courage, your patience, and your unwavering commitment to our community’s most vulnerable.

In my role as the Awareness and Outreach Specialist at CARE House, I see firsthand how vital it is for adults to stay educated about the digital world. The post below from Darkness to Light highlights a critical reality: as technology evolves, so do the ways children are being targeted. Understanding CSAM—including the newer threats like AI-generated content—is the first step toward effective prevention. I am proud to serve as a facilitator for Darkness to Light’s training programs, and I am currently scheduling sessions for those who want to learn how to better protect the children in our community. If you would like to host a training on how to prevent child sexual abuse in your organization, please send me a message!

Headline: A Heartfelt Thank You to the Davis Family! 💙

At CARE House, our mission is to provide a safe, supportive environment for children and families when they need it most. Today, we want to extend a massive thank you to the Davis family for their incredibly generous donation made in honor of Angelo’s Wish.

Their thoughtful gift included a wonderful assortment of items that will make a world of difference for the families we serve. From snacks and drinks to help keep parents and kids fueled, to crayons, fidget toys, squishes, and stuffed animals to bring comfort and joy during difficult visits—every single item will be put to great use.

Gifts like these help us create a space that feels a little more like home and a lot more like a place of healing. Thank you, Davis family, for your kindness and for helping us continue our mission in honor of Angelo’s Wish. We are so grateful to have you as part of our community!
