What a beautiful day for our Very Berry Picnic!

We celebrated our incredible URS clients with an afternoon full of music, good food, dancing, and water play. The smiles said it all!

A huge highlight every year is our dear friend Chuck Berry, who came out to present cash prizes to our child and adult clients and spend time with everyone at URS. This picnic was started in part to honor Chuck, and we are so blessed to have a friend and supporter like him in our corner.

And of course, Quackers made an appearance too!

Thank you to our amazing volunteers, who gave their time and energy to make today run so smoothly, and to everyone who came out to celebrate with us. Moments like these are why we do what we do. 💛

Today marked the 15th annual Very Berry Picnic, where Chuck Berry handed out ducks and cash prizes to our clients, and everyone enjoyed a great cookout with music and games. Grateful for our volunteers and staff for making it such a fun day for our clients!

Please help us congratulate our August Employee of the Month, Sarah Gradel! 🎉

Sarah puts in countless hours at URS coordinating volunteers and events, and she gives so much of her own time outside of work to help our efforts come together. It is the kind of behind the scenes dedication that makes a real difference.

That hard work paid off this summer in Miamisburg, where Sarah helped pull off our very first Bar Stool event, and it was a huge success! Getting a brand new event off the ground is no small thing, and Sarah made it happen.

Thank you for everything you do for URS and our community, Sarah. We are so lucky to have you. Congratulations! 👏💙

Meet Melanie, three years of showing up and putting in the work! 💛

Melanie started her physical therapy journey here at URS back in 2023, working across both our aquatic and land programs. Over three years, she's made incredible gains in strength, balance, and coordination.

When she first started, crossing midline was really tough for Melanie, which made coordinated movements hard to complete. We started in the pool, an easier environment for those activities, and worked our way up to more complex movements on land. Now? Melanie can knock out 20 or more crossover marches in standing with little to no help. 🙌

She's also been working hard on her balance using the Astronaut Training Protocol to strengthen her vestibular and visual systems, and she can now complete obstacle courses with so much less assistance than before.

Melanie has worked SO hard, and she can now do so many new things that make everyday movement easier and more fun. We are beyond proud of you, Melanie! 🌟

Meet Jeremiah.

On a hot morning, you'll find him out front of the garden center with the hose, working his way down the rows of tomatoes and flowers. That's one piece of his job at a local retail store. He also loads heavy purchases into customers' cars and answers calls on the store's walkie-talkie system, and he takes real pride in doing all of it well.

What his coworkers talk about most, though, is Jeremiah himself. He's friendly, easy to talk to, and treats customers and teammates with kindness and respect. His crew praises his work ethic, counts on him to pitch in, and values him as part of the team.

That's the part that lasts. Showing up dependably, working well alongside people, and caring about the job are what make someone valuable in any workplace.

Jeremiah is supported by URS Employment Services, which helps adults find and keep jobs that fit their goals. He has a lot to be proud of, and he keeps building on the skills and confidence he's gained.

Way to go, Jeremiah.

Thirty-six years ago on July 26, 1990, the Americans with Disabilities Act changed what was possible. The ADA opened doors, removed barriers, and affirmed that people with disabilities deserve full access to their communities, their workplaces, and their lives.

That belief lives in everything we do. For 70 years, URS has walked alongside individuals at every stage of life, from infants and children in our therapy and childcare programs, to youth building skills and confidence, to adults pursuing employment and independence. As the only provider in the state offering on-site nursing and integrated therapies in a licensed childcare setting, we see every day what becomes possible when access and inclusion come first.

This past Friday, adults from our programs joined neighbors downtown for Dayton's Disability Pride Rally. Access isn't only law and policy. It's people showing up for each other.

We honor the progress the ADA has made possible, and we recommit to the work still ahead.

Inclusion. Access. Opportunity. Equality. Stronger together.

Team URS is off! 🚴‍♀️

This morning our team gathered at Young's Jersey Dairy to kick off the 24th Annual Young's Bike Tour - A Charity Event, a two-day, 83-mile ride to Ohio Wesleyan University and back. Over 23 years, this incredible event has raised more than $1.8 million for four amazing local causes: United Rehabilitation Services, Alzheimer's Association: Miami Valley Chapter, Breakthrough T1D, and South Community Behavioral Health.

A huge thank you to Young's Jersey Dairy for hosting and organizing this event year after year, and to every team riding alongside us for these causes. Every mile pedaled helps fund therapy, employment support, and care for the individuals we serve here in the Miami Valley.

🌟 Success Story Spotlight 🌟

When Jackson joined our classroom 8 months ago as a shy 2-year-old, he communicated primarily through tears and relied on his pacifier for comfort while adjusting to a new environment. Through the patience and consistency of his teachers, he has made remarkable progress: confidently communicating through words and sign language, building friendships with his peers, and growing in independence.

His mother shared this reflection on his journey: "I owe so much to URS and Jack's amazing teachers for the progress he has gone through since starting. He is learning so well and has become so much more social."

Jackson's growth is a testament to the dedicated educators who show up every day to support children like him, and to the families who trust us with their child's earliest and most important years of development.

This is the impact of quality early childhood education. This is why URS exists.
