HAPPENING NOW
Five Veterans enrolled at Dayton VA are being honored at this year’s Welcome Home event. It’s the 18th year we’ve teamed up with the Dayton Dragons for this special event. This year’s honorees are Lloyd Lynch, Willie Clemons, Jr., Larry Crutcher, Earl Sheppheard, and Philip Hart. They each received an American flag that had flown over the U.S. Capitol, specials coins, Dragons swag and other tokens of appreciation. Mr. Lynch, who is a WWII Veteran and 101 years old, threw out the first pitch. They and their families also enjoyed a nice meal on the party deck.

It’s a beautiful day at Dayton VA! Have a great weekend everyone.

Our Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) no longer schedule appointments for lab draws. They are done on a walk in basis only, like at the main campus. Our new Electronic Health Record (EHR) doesn't allow appointment scheduling for lab procedures. Only LPNs perform functions related to lab procedures. We are hiring more LPNs to reduce wait times for blood draws. Veterans needing labs that do not require fasting are encouraged to arrive later in the morning to minimize waiting.

Thank you Greater Dayton CORVETTE Club for donating $6,400 to the Dayton Vet Center today. The club had a car show in the spring at Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway and all the proceeds were donated to the Vet Center. Assistant Director Jermaine Sterling accepted the check from Tom Brooks, the club’s president. The Vet Center is a counseling center that provides services to Veterans, military members, National Guard and Reserve members and their families. Brooks said the corvette club hopes to do the same next year.
