While there are many national cemeteries across the country you can visit to remember our honored dead this Memorial Day, perhaps the most famous is Arlington National Cemetery. Despite its unusual history, the cemetery has come to be known as a place of reverence, respect, and remembrance. A place where men and women are honored and remembered for generations. Kate Mariane Losey, age 96 of Dayton, passed away at Life Care of Rhea County on Sunday, May 17, 2026. She was born in Brooklyn, New York, on October 19, 1929, the daughter of the late Karl and Margit (Akselsen) Wilhelmsen. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Losey.

Kate called New York home before relocating to Dayton in 2001. During her time there, she drove a school bus, was an active member of the Red Hatters and Sons of Norway, and had a passion for crafting.

Kate is survived by her daughters, Karen (Jeff) West of Dayton and Alicia Krebs of Nesconset, New York; her sons, Kenneth (Anita) Armstrong of King George, Virginia, and Leonard Krebs of Lake Grove, New York; her ten grandchildren, and her 12 great-grandchildren.

There will be no services for Kate at this time.

Larry “Gene” Roberts, age 85 of Spring City, passed away at his home on Friday, May 15, 2026. He was born in Chattanooga on August 12, 1940, the son of the late Harry Roberts and Bertie (Poston) Roberts. He was also preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth “Betty” (Phillips) Roberts.

Gene graduated from Oak Ridge High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He made Spring City his home in 1993 and built a career as an Associate Engineer with the Tennessee Department of Transportation. In his free time, he found joy in fishing, golfing, and woodworking.

Gene is survived by his daughter, Susan (Brian) Glaspell of Ontario, Canada; his two sons, Jeff Roberts and Jason Roberts, both of Chattanooga; his five grandchildren, Brad (Kristin) Glaspell, Brittany (Jacob) Glaspell, and Ben (Lucy) Glaspell, all of Ontario, Canada, Alex (Brittney) Doss of Soddy Daisy, and Stuart (Bailey) Doss of Birchwood; his 10 great-grandchildren; and his brother, Don Roberts of Soddy Daisy.

Funeral services with US Navy military honors for Gene will be in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jim Woychuk officiating. He will be laid to rest at Chattanooga National Cemetery.

Because of travel constraints, instead of flowers please make a memorial gift in Gene’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.

Margie Lee Martin, age 89 of Dayton, passed away at her home on May 17, 2026. She was born at home in Evensville, Tennessee, on November 5, 1936, the daughter of Lee and Myrtle (Kring) Henderson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Odis Tate “Jack” Martin, in 2021 and her two brothers, Paul Henderson and Ralph Hederson.

Margie proudly graduated from Spring City High School and went on to build a dedicated career, spending over 30 years at Dryset Knitting Mills and additional years at La-Z-Boy. A devoted member of Graysville First Baptist Church, her faith and her church family were the true center of her world.

Margie is survived by her son, Robert Tate (Debbie) Martin of Dayton; her daughters, Nancy (David) White of Chattanooga and Nora (David) Griswald of Tracy City; her seven grandchildren, her 12 great-grandchildren; her three great-great-grandchildren; her brothers, Owen (Anna Lou) Henderson of Evensville and Grover (Nola) Henderson of Carroll County, Tennessee; and her sister, Ginny (Jack) Ballard of Cleveland.

Funeral services for Margie will be in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. with Brother Danny Pryor officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband, Jack, in Pleasant View Cemetery.

The family would like to give a special thank you to her caregiver, Lisa Lemons, and Jody and Donna with Amedisys Hospice.
