Volusia Flagler Advanced Practice Nursing Council The Council identifies the advanced practice role as a specialty that is essential to the delivery of high quality and cost effective health care.

The Volusia Flagler Advanced Practice Nursing Council (VFAPNC) is an association of advanced practice nurses organized to advance, foster, encourage, promote, and improve the care given to patients by Advanced Practice Nurses. The VFAPNC is an association of advanced practice nurses organized to advance, foster, encourage, promote and improve the care given to patients by Advanced Practice Nurses.

The Council believes that continuing education is essential to professional growth, excellence in clinical practice and optimal patient outcomes. The provision of opportunities for continuing education is an integral activity of VFAPNC. The Council further believes in educating the community as to the role of the Advanced Practice Nurse. The Council supports efforts to assist community organizations in the delivery of health care to the public. The Council is involved in legislative reform to ensure optimum healthcare for their community and fosters awareness of such legislation that may affect the people they serve. The Council members serve as role models for all nurses in their community and encourage mentorship and preceptorship of advanced practice students and novice nurses within their district.

✨️Thank you to The Penumbra Team (Mr. Pitt) for hosting such an insightful educational dinner program for the Volusia Flagler Advanced Practice Nursing Council last night.
✨️ Your partnership and presentation on Venous Thromboembolism (VTE) provided essential, high-impact clinical value to our members.
✨️The discussion surrounding VTE identification and prevention was timely and critical. Delving into the legislative intent and safety mandates of Emily's Law reinforced our collective duty to implement robust blood clot risk assessments and safety protocols across all care settings, from hospitals and acute care environments to nursing homes and assisted living facilities. Enhancing practitioner awareness around these standards directly improves patient safety and clinical outcomes in our community.

We had a great evening at the Chart House, hearing Laura Gonzalez, APRN, speak about aortic stenosis and trends in TAVR’s. Thank you to Edwards, who is always a huge supporter of VFAPNC.

We also presented three of our members, Janet M. Mayo, Shanikwa Unique, and Tina Ran Carlyle scholarships to attend their conference of choice. We look forward to hearing about their events!

Remember to apply for our scholarships, as that is money that we raised as a Council, FOR our Council members.
