Does this sound familiar:
"I drink lots of water so I'm not dehydrated." or
"I carry my water bottle everywhere I go, I'm always drinking more than enough water."
How about "I drink so much water my urine is clear!" 😏
Then you need to know about hyponatremia.
What is hyponatremia and is it dangerous?
Hyponatremia, otherwise known as water intoxification, is a condition where drinking too much water lowers the sodium and other electrolytes in the bloodstream leading to dangerous conditions such as seizures and comas, which can be fatal. Signs include throbbing headaches caused by brain swelling, clear (colorless) urine, swelling and discoloration of the hands, feet and lips, muscle weakness, confusion and overall fatigue caused by an imbalance in critical electrolytes necessary for everyday functioning.
Overhydration can be as dangerous to your body as dehydration. This is why you need to consult with our licensed RN to determine what is the best course of action for your particular needs. Once you schedule an appointment for our mobile IV service , you will receive a health questionnaire to complete prior to your scheduled appointment. This ensures that the RN has all the necessary information to determine what's the most beneficial supplementation for your current condition. If needed, the RN will consult with the medical director or may even refer you to seek care through your primary care doctor.
