Florida Oral & Facial Surgical Associates has been serving patients in the Central Florida area since 1956. Fleuchaus, D.M.D., M.S.D., established a private practice on International Speedway in Daytona Beach. During the past three decades, tremendous changes have taken place in the Volusia and Flagler county areas and in the rapidly advancing field of oral and maxillofacial surgery. To meet the g

rowth, Dr. Fleuchaus was fortunate to meet and join forces with a fine group of surgeons, Dr. Richard T. Schalit, and Dr. Roger Thayer. Coastal Oral & Cosmetic Surgical Center grew to three locations to serve patients throughout the Volusia and Flagler county areas. We expanded our services to include facial cosmetic surgery. In 2003 a licensed ambulatory surgical center was built to accommodate the growth of the Center, which was renamed Florida Oral and Facial Surgical Associates.

This 14 year-old patient previously underwent removal of his wisdom teeth and a cyst from his right lower jaw over a year ago. An X-ray last month indicated a recurrence of the odontogenic keratoycyst which can occur up to 60% of the time. Here, Dr. Pinker is removing the recurrent keratocyst, performing a peripheral ostectomy to remove any remaining cells from the bony walls, and placing 5-fluorouracil within the bony cavity to reduce the risk of the cyst returning. The procedure was performed in our office under IV sedation.
