💙 July is Disability Pride Month.

I know not everyone feels comfortable identifying as disabled—and that’s a personal choice.

But it’s worth knowing about the concept of a dynamic disability: a disability or health condition whose symptoms and functional limitations change over time.

If you’re living with Myasthenia Gravis, you’ve probably experienced this firsthand. Symptoms can fluctuate from day to day, or even hour to hour.

Some days you feel like you can take on the world.
Other days, MG is incredibly disabling.

Needing to rest doesn’t make you weak.
Having a disability doesn’t make you any less of a person.

You are still worthy. You are still capable. You are simply listening to your body and giving it what it needs.

I’ve also found it helpful to reframe those difficult moments:
💙 When MG makes my muscles weak, it’s a reminder to slow down and rest.
💙 When MG causes my eyes to droop, it’s a reminder to pause, reflect, and look inward.

Disability isn’t something to be ashamed of. It’s simply one part of many people’s lived experience—and that deserves understanding, respect, and pride.

Today, organizations, advocates, patients, caregivers, healthcare professionals, and supporters from around the world are coming together to Light the Globe for Myasthenia Gravis (MG).

This international awareness initiative unites organizations across multiple countries with one shared goal: to increase understanding of myasthenia gravis, amplify patient voices, and bring greater visibility to this rare neuromuscular disease.

The Myasthenia Gravis Holistic Society is proud to stand alongside fellow MG organizations worldwide as we invite you to join the movement:

Creating awareness. Educating communities. Amplifying patient voices.

Our very own Founder and CEO, Dawn Warner, has been making the podcast and radio rounds with one mission in mind: increasing awareness of Myasthenia Gravis and other autoimmune conditions.

This week, she was a featured guest on the show with Dr. MJ Collier. Together, they answered audience questions about Myasthenia Gravis, autoimmune disease, advocacy, wellness, and the importance of early recognition and support.

The live Q&A format created an incredible opportunity to educate listeners while also sharing information about our upcoming MG Awareness Day events in Georgia, Wisconsin, Louisiana, and Alabama. The audience engagement was phenomenal, with questions continuing to pour in throughout the hour and beyond!

We are grateful to for providing this platform to help raise awareness and shine a light on the experiences of those living with Myasthenia Gravis. We look forward to future collaborations and continuing these important conversations.
