At Primrose Retirement Community of Mansfield, longevity is more than a milestone—it is part of the community’s story. Six residents have reached the extraordinary age of 100 or older, each bringing a distinctive personality, treasured talents and a lifetime of memories to the community they call home.
The oldest of the group is Ed, 103, who has called Primrose home for more than 17 years. His long residency makes him a special part of the community’s history and a familiar presence to residents and staff alike.
Rosemary is the newest member of Primrose’s centenarian club, having most recently celebrated a 100th birthday. Rosemary speaks warmly about the staff and credits their care and support as part of the reason for her longevity.
At 102, Margaret Ellen remains deeply involved in community life. As an active member of the Resident Ambassador Club, Margaret Ellen welcomes visitors to Primrose and helps newcomers experience the warmth of the community firsthand. She is also affectionately known for giving the “best hugs.” Her spirit of service extends to the Busy Bees, a resident group that participates in community service projects.
Music is part of Billie’s special contribution to Primrose. Known for playing the grand piano by ear, Billie can turn a gathering into a singalong, including leading fellow residents in a chorus of “New York, New York.”
Doris finds joy in friendship and everyday experiences, especially spending time with friends and enjoying outings to the beauty salon.
For Stella, the secret to reaching 100 is simple: “It’s really just God’s will.” Stella describes life at Primrose as a wonderful way to live and gives credit to the delicious food and the smiling staff who help make the community feel like home.
Together, Ed, Rosemary, Margaret Ellen, Billie, Doris and Stella represent more than six remarkable birthdays. Their stories reflect friendship, service, music, faith, gratitude and the importance of staying connected. At Primrose of Mansfield, their century-plus lives are not only celebrated for the years they have lived, but also for the joy and wisdom they continue to share with those around them.
