Of course the main objective visiting a chiropractor is to receive an adjustment. However, it is very important to be very aware of what happens next. When there is an adjustment, the joint that was in an abnormal position is now in a more stable position. The key follow up is to make sure that the joint remains in a as normal position as possible. The easiest and best way to mainitain that stability is with very gentle exercise. In our clinic we have determined that using an exercise ball lis the easiest and most cost efficient way to do just that.
I would suggest going to a place such as Play It Again Sports or if no other facility is available go to Wal Mart. You provide your height and get matched up to your perfect size ball.
Once the ball is filled then place it next to a table or best idea would be between say a couch and table for stability.
My advice to make sure you won't fall off is to stay between two pieces of furniture (holding on both sides)and move SLOWLY up and down, and move slowly left and right. To get used to the ball, sit in front of your tv and gently bounce.(up and down and left and right). My thought is watching a program you normally see while bouncing . The bouncing will become a lot more second nature this way.
I will add to this discussion next time. Remember to always move slowly when getting on and off the ball and to hold on with both hands on either side until you feel very comfortable on the ball.
The ball can be a lot of fun and an easy way to keep your joints where they are supposed to be.
