Edith Lou Pilkey

Edith Lou Fairbanks Pilkey, age 67, of Ten Mile, passed away leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and devotion that will live on through all who knew her.

Edith was the beloved daughter of the late Howard and Mary Jane Fairbanks. She was preceded in death by her husband and the love of her life, Cleve Pilkey, whose memory she carried close to her heart every day.

A remarkable woman in every sense, Edith was an amazing mother who persevered through life's hardships with steadfast determination and unwavering faith. She loved fiercely and unconditionally, embodying both the delicate beauty of a rose and the fearless strength of a lioness. Her family knew her as the heart and foundation of their lives.

She wore the title of "Mamaw" like no other, cherishing every moment spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were truly the light of her life. Edith often spoke proudly of the blessing of being a grandmother, finding joy in watching her family grow. With a smile full of pride, she would say, "They are mine," celebrating the generations she helped nurture and raise.

Edith was a dedicated employee at Creative Foam in Athens, where she worked as part of the Maintenance Team. Wherever she went, she became a mother figure to those around her. She took great pride in her work and led by example through her gentle but firm nature. Known for her honesty, hard work, and kindness, Edith left a lasting impression on her coworkers, who respected and admired her deeply.

Outside of work, Edith found joy in the simple things-spending time with her family, taking lighthearted trips to Lowe's with Cleve, and doing thoughtful acts for others. One of the many beautiful examples of her love was seen on Cleve's last birthday, when she gifted him a Bible. When he told her he could not see well enough to read it, Edith promised she would read it to him instead. True to her word, she sat with him every day for months, reading that Bible over coffee and dinner. This was the kind of love and devotion that defined her life and inspired all who witnessed it.

Edith will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her spirit, strength, and love will continue to guide her family for generations to come.

A private memorial service will be held by the family at a later date.

Sympathy cards can be sent to 622 Tennessee Ave, Etowah, Tennessee 37331.
