The Decatur Morgan Hospital Foundation joins our community in mourning the loss of Dr. Rodney Wayne Harney, whose dedication to medicine and compassionate care touched countless lives throughout Decatur.

Dr. Harney began his family medicine practice in Decatur in 1987 and served patients for nearly four decades before retiring in 2024. Throughout his distinguished career, he built lasting relationships with individuals and families across our community. As a Caddell Grisham Award winner, Dr. Harney was recognized for his contributions, and his commitment to caring for others leaves a lasting legacy in the community he served.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to his wife, Susan, his children and grandchildren, and all who loved him.

A service celebrating Dr. Harney’s life will be held Friday, October 16, at First Bible Church of Decatur. Visitation will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 1 p.m.

What a wonderful day of mah jong, friendship and giving back! 💗🎀

The Friends of the Foundation’s Bam Crack Save the Racks Mah Jong Tournament brought together 80 attendees at the beautiful Burningtree Country Club for a day of fun while raising critical funds for breast health in our community.

A special thank you to Beth Gilbert and Amanda Scott for leading this incredible event! We are also grateful to Burningtree Country Club and the dedicated ladies who helped bring it all together. Thank you to the generous sponsors whose support made this event possible!
