Taking medication consistently sounds simple… until life gets busy.

Work schedules change. Routines get interrupted. Some medications cause side effects. Cost can become a challenge too.

That’s why chronic disease management isn’t just about writing prescriptions. It’s about finding a plan you can realistically stick with.

We work with patients to adjust medications when needed, answer questions, and help remove barriers that make staying healthy harder than it should be.

Small steps done consistently often make the biggest difference over time.

Have questions about managing your medications or chronic conditions? We’re here to help. Call (256) 686-3456.

Our friends in Eva are planning a special celebration for America’s 250th Anniversary and the Town of Eva’s history on July 3.

It sounds like a great evening of community, music, food trucks, family fun, and fireworks. If you’re in the Eva area, be sure to mark your calendar and follow Eva Frontier Days for updates and additional details.

🇺🇸 July 3 • 5:30-9:30 PM
📍 Veterans Memorial Park, Eva, Alabama

We’re proud to help share community events that bring people together.

From Our Mayor Mr. Kent Chambers:

In conjunction with America's 250th Anniversary, on July 3rd, the Town of Eva will celebrate our town's history. From it's founding in the late 1800's as Cow Head, AL to its incorporation in 1963.
We will be celebrating and honoring those people that founded Eva as well as those that have worked to make it the great town that it is today. We plan to recognize all former employees, council, mayors, as well as other very important people from our community. Join us as we will take a walk down memory lane, and look to the future.
Music, Food Trucks, Kid's Bouncy House, Fireworks.

Managing chronic disease is about more than numbers on a chart.

Blood pressure, blood sugar, and lab work matter… but so do stress levels, nutrition, sleep, activity, and mental health.

Depression and anxiety can make chronic conditions harder to manage. And chronic conditions can affect mental health too. Everything is connected.

That’s why we focus on treating the whole person — with regular monitoring, lifestyle support, patient education, and ongoing care.

At Whitfield Family Practice, we’re here to support your health for the long haul and treat you like family.

Living with a chronic condition can feel overwhelming sometimes.

Diabetes. High blood pressure. Asthma. Arthritis. High cholesterol. These are conditions many people manage every single day.

The good news? Chronic disease doesn’t mean you can’t live well.

Regular check-ins matter because your health changes over time. Medications may need adjusting. Symptoms can shift. Catching small problems early can help prevent bigger ones later.

At Whitfield Family Practice, we focus on long-term care that fits real life — not just quick fixes.

Potassium plays a big role in how your body feels every day — from keeping your heartbeat steady to helping your muscles work the way they should. 💪❤️

One simple food that packs a surprising potassium boost? A baked potato.

Small nutrition choices can make a big difference over time, especially when it comes to heart health and overall wellness. What’s your favorite healthy comfort food? 🥔

A single baked potato packs 940mg of potassium. They are also low in fat and high in Vitamin C. You need potassium for every single cell in your body to work properly. It’s the secret behind a steady heartbeat, muscle contractions, and keeping your blood pressure in a healthy range. https://wb.md/4upQvMq

🌟 Spotlight on Liz Berry, PA-C!

Born and raised in Huntsville with a family of NASA engineers, Liz found her calling in medicine after watching physician assistants care for her mom with such compassion. ❤️

She's got quite the adventure spirit—from studying at UAB to clinical rotations at MD Anderson in Houston and rural Montana! When she's not helping patients, she's hiking, kayaking, or hanging out with her 7-year-old Irish Wolfhound, Eilish! 🐕

Her goal? Visit every national park in the US (how cool is that?!) 🏔️

Come meet Liz and experience her caring approach to your health!

This Memorial Day, we honor the brave service members who gave their lives protecting our nation and our freedoms. We remember their sacrifice with gratitude and respect today and always. 🇺🇸

We’ll be back and ready to help on Tuesday.

Thanks for understanding—we’re taking the day to remember and honor those who served.

🇺🇸 Memorial Day Weekend is here, and Decatur is getting ready for Alabama Jubilee! 🎈

We’re hoping the rain moves out so families can enjoy the balloons, live music, fireworks, and all the activities happening this weekend. Please stay safe in the heat, keep little ones hydrated, and take a moment to remember the true meaning of Memorial Day as we honor those who served our country. ❤️

Have a safe weekend from all of us at Whitfield Family Practice.
