While shopping for ingredients to cook a
lovely carrot ginger soup I decided to
compare one of the vegetable broths I have
used in the past to a vegetable broth I
saw in the health food store. The first
broth had the following ingredients:
Ingredients: WATER, CONTAINS LESS THAN 2% OF SEA SALT, ORGANIC CANE SUGAR, CARROT JUICE CONCENTRATE, ONION JUICE CONCENTRATE, CELERY JUICE CONCENTRATE, YEAST EXTRACT,
SALT
This has some nutrition and is useable for the soup.
(Not sure why it needed sugar in it?)
The broth I bought at the health food store had
the following ingredients:
INGREDIENTS: Filtered Water, Organic Onions, Organic Celery, Organic Carrots, Celtic Sea Salt, Organic Mushrooms, Organic Leeks, Organic Collard Greens, Organic Spinach, Urganic Broccoli, Organic Fennel, Organic Tomatoes, Organic Parsley, Organic Black Peppercorns, and Organic Garlic.
Because the second broth has substantially more
vegetable varieties in it makes it nutritionally
superior.
Looking at the ingredients of the food used
for cooking makes a difference. Over time
this augments health in a big way.
God gives us but one earthly body. We are
entrusted to take care of it as best we can.
