Curious what a hearing evaluation shows?

Your hearing test results are telling you something, but we know understanding how to read them is far from intuitive.

The graph you received after your evaluation is called an audiogram. Those Xs and Os represent your left and right ears, and the numbers show the softest sounds you were able to hear at different pitches. Pitches range from low bass sounds (think male voices, lawnmowers, vowels) all the way up to high treble sounds (think female voices, birds chirping, consonants).

At Audiology Associates of Deerfield, we don't hand you your results and send you on your way. We sit down, walk through everything in plain language, and make sure you leave with a clear picture of where your hearing stands and what your options are.

Please share! This little guy was found running at large near the 800 block of Wilmot Road this afternoon. The Deerfield Police Department brought him to Orphans of the Storms until his owner can be located!

"I hear quite well in quiet places. What I do notice is that in a restaurant, I'm the only one who asks for conversation to be repeated. When my kids visit, they tell me that the TV is too loud. I've decided that it's time to do something about it. I'm tired of feeling left out of conversations. "

With a loss of hearing in the high frequencies (women and children's voices, birds, consonant sounds) this is exactly what most people describe.
