We’re looking for a Per Diem Respite Care Worker to join our Kaitlyn’s Cottage team!

🕒 WHAT WE NEED
Our greatest staffing needs right now are applicants who have availability for weekday afternoons beginning around 2:00 PM and weekends.
This is a per diem position, with a minimum requirement of 24 hours worked per month, along with bi-monthly staff meetings.
👉 24 hours is the minimum—not the maximum! If you have more availability, there are opportunities to pick up PLENTY of additional hours.
This can be a great fit for college students, someone looking for additional income, or anyone wanting a flexible position with a whole lot of purpose. 💙
Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED, possess basic writing and computer skills, successfully pass State and Federal background checks, and be drug-, ni****ne-, and vape-free.
🏡 WHAT DOES A RESPITE CARE WORKER DO?
Kaitlyn’s Cottage, located on the campus of ProMedica Defiance Regional Hospital, provides day, evening and overnight respite care for individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities.
As a Respite Care Worker, you’ll provide support, guidance and supervision while helping our participants enjoy their time at KC. Responsibilities include:
-Interacting with participants and encouraging independence
-Planning and engaging participants in activities based on their interests and abilities
-Providing personal care and hygiene support as needed while promoting dignity and independence
-Preparing and sharing meals in a family-style setting, including involving participants in meal prep, conversation and clean-up
Performing light housekeeping to help maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment
-Following protocols that support participant health and safety, including mealtime guidelines and medication administration
-And most importantly—building relationships, having fun and helping create a place where the people we serve feel welcomed, valued and supported. 💙
*Previous experience working with individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities is a plus, but it isn’t required—we are willing to train the right person!
