POSITION SUMMARY:
Provide excellent patient and customer service in the selection, ordering and dispensing of eyewear. Complete pre-screening activities prior to patient exams. Prepare work orders for Optical Lab. Process medical billing information. Maintain frame inventory.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
CUSTOMER SERVICE
路 Provide excellent customer and patient service according to company and Optical Center standards
路 Analyze patient eyewear needs
路 Recommend specific lenses, lens coatings and frames to satisfy patient needs
路 Assist patients in selecting frames according to style and color. Ensure frames are coordinated with facial and eye measurements and optical prescriptions
路 Order and dispense eyewear accurately and professionally
路 Assist patients with proper frame repairs and adjustments
路 Show patients how to insert, remove and care for their contact lenses
路 Assist Optometrist with case histories and screenings
BUSINESS AND OPERATIONAL STANDARDS
路 Maintain a complete knowledge of third-party plans and claims
路 Explain promotions and special lens offerings to patients and customers
路 Balance accounts
路 Prepare work orders containing specific instructions for Optical Lab
路 Process medical billing information
路 Ensure proper merchandising of frame inventory
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:
路 High School Graduate or equivalent
路 Maintain license as required by state
路 To become Certified, teammate must complete Shopko OCE Certification requirements and calendar modules
路 Previous experience in an office and/or optical dispensing is preferred
路 Able to handle multiple customer interactions/phone calls at a time
路 Able to work with patient eyewear needs including analyzing prescriptions, repairs and adjustments and lifestyle dispensing
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & WORK REQUIREMENTS:
路 Ability to effectively communicate at all levels within the organization through written and two-way verbal communication
路 Able to read and write at a high school graduate level
路 Able to sit or stand for extended periods of time
路 Able to operate various office equipment (e.g., personal computer, telephone, fax machine, copier, etc.)
路 Ability to lift 10 to 20 pounds
路 Ability to see (Near, Distance, Color, and Depth Perception)
路 Manual and finger dexterity, as well as hand/arm steadiness
路 Ability to grip and hold items
路 Good eye and hand coordination
路 Able to operate a cash register, various optical equipment and tools
路 Able to work normal and/or extended (evenings, nights, and weekends) office hours to meet established deadlines
路 Able to travel independently to support Company objectives and personal development
