Established in 1979, Barb City Manor is a self-sufficient, not-for-profit retirement home that specializes in independent living at an affordable price. It is the perfect solution for those 62 and older who continue to be active, but don't want the responsibilities of having their own home. We promote safety, independence, and healthy living for singles and couples. Three meals daily, weekly house

keeping, and 24 hour staffing are all included in our monthly rate. Also enjoy social and recreational activities, monthly parties, outing and more! When actor recently shared that he accidentally booked a stay at an assisted living community while filming, he expected a place to sleep. Instead, he found friendship, laughter, and such a wonderful experience that he now looks for senior living communities whenever he travels.

Looking for a rewarding weekend job? We may have the perfect fit!

Barb City Manor is looking for a friendly, dependable person to join our team as a Weekend Receptionist / Resident Support team member. This position is ideal for someone looking to supplement their income with a consistent every-other-weekend schedule.

Schedule (every other weekend):
🗓️ Thursday: 5:00 PM – Midnight
🗓️ Saturday & Sunday: 4:00 PM – Midnight

This position includes:
• Greeting and assisting residents, families, and visitors
• Light clerical and receptionist duties
• Routine rounds throughout the building
• Helping provide a welcoming, safe environment for our residents

We're looking for someone who:
✔️ Is at least 18 years old
✔️ Is dependable and reliable—we can't stress this enough!
✔️ Has great attention to detail
✔️ Enjoys working with older adults and providing excellent customer service

For those interested in additional hours, there is also an opportunity to cross-train as an occasional fill-in for our overnight (Midnight–8:00 AM) shift.

For the last few months our new friend Dave Jacobsen has been popping in to play some Saturday afternoon concerts!

He and the residents have been challenging each other with a game of "but do you know this one?" Apparently, Dave is learning a new song before he stops by next month!

We've been keeping a fun little secret, and we're excited to finally share it!

Barb City Manor is proud to announce 94.9 WDKB as the official media partner for Light Up the Manor 2026!

Together, we're building a holiday tradition that brings our community together in a fun and creative way, all while supporting local seniors.

This is just the beginning.

Over the coming months you'll meet our Chief Illumination Officer, help name our six-foot rooster, see behind-the-scenes adventures, hear stories from our residents, and hopefully share a few laughs along the way.

Thank you to Bill, Tony, Peyton, and the entire WDKB team for believing in this vision from day one. We can't wait to show everyone what's coming.

Stay tuned...the fun officially begins August 1st!
