Margaret Ann Pedrotti Kelly was born on July 8, 1937, to Lena and Dan Pedrotti in Del Rio, Texas, the 5th of 7 children. She was raised in a devout Catholic home, where music and song were part of her daily life. Singing in the church choir was one of her greatest joys. It was from the vantage point of the choir loft that she spotted Bobby Kelly as he filed into Mass with his family. Several years later her brother Dan introduced her to Bobby and they eventually married on June 24,1958 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Del Rio. Together they raised 4 children.

Teaching was one of her passions. Once married and living on the ranch, she began teaching religion classes for Mary, Queen of the Universe Catholic Church in Comstock. She taught religion classes until age 84. In the early 1980’s, she went back to school and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education as well as her Master’s Degree in Counseling. She taught at Sacred Heart Academy from 1982 to 1985. In the fall of 1985, she began teaching in Comstock where she served as counselor and special education director until her retirement.

Discussing politics was a favorite pastime. From an early age she enjoyed listening to her dad talk about world affairs. Once married, her father-in-law, P.W. Kelly, would come to the house to discuss politics over morning coffee. During the 1970’s and 1980’s, she became a driving force for the revitalization of the Republican Party in Val Verde County. She was named Chairman of Val Verde County Republican Party in 1977 and Co-chair in 1982.

Raising her children in the Catholic faith was a priority. She and Bobby raised their 4 children to embrace the teachings of the Catholic Church. She proudly attended her grandchildren’s Baptisms, First Holy Communions, Confirmations, and Weddings.

Margaret Ann derived great pleasure in spending time with her grandchildren. Every summer she held a “cousins camp”. All of the grandchildren looked forward to spending a week at the ranch with Mawmaw and Grandbobby each summer.

After the passing of her dear husband of 41 years, she was encouraged by her sister Rosemarie and her lifelong friend, Ruth Ann, to study the Franciscan Order. She would travel to San Antonio on a monthly basis to attend meetings where she eventually became a Third Order Franciscan.

Margaret Ann was preceded in death by her husband,Robert H. Kelly, Sr, Parents: Dan and Lena Pedrotti. Siblings: Antoinette Pedrotti, Rosemarie O’Connor (James), Josephine Beitzil (Frank), Daniel A. Pedrotti.

Anneliese ‘Anne’ Parker, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and cherished matriarch of her family, joined our Lord in Heaven on May 26, 2026 at the age of 81.

Anne was born on July 13, 1944, in Augsburg, Germany to Rubert and Elizabeth Färber. She spent her childhood in the Pfersee neighborhood, where her parents owned a renowned restaurant and large ballroom facility. Some of her greatest joys were of the gala events and gourmet feasts held at the family business, as well as the playful adventures and pranks she shared with her cousin, Günther.

Anne and her sisters, Lydia and Gerlinde, were raised by their devoted mother, whose resilience, strength, and unwavering dedication to family became qualities Anne carried throughout her life. Inspired by her parents’ legacy, Anne pursued a career in hospitality, working at two of Augsburg’s finest restaurants. It was during this time she met and married the love of her life, Jerry Parker.

Anne and Jerry made Del Rio, Texas their home where they raised their three children, Frank, Rondol and Lisa. They also owned and operated two successful businesses that they started together. Anne was a devoted wife, loving mother and steadfast partner whose dedication and commitment helped build and support her thriving family and business.

Anne was full of life, she enjoyed baking, boating and fishing on Lake Amistad with her husband and family. She also volunteered her time and skills to various activities in the community including serving as an advocate for the Val Verde County CASA unit and Child Welfare Board, a member of the Winter Texans Visitor Committee, a member of Amistad Navy boating club and took pride in sharing her German ancestry, food and music to her friends.

When her children were older, Anne eagerly accepted a new working opportunity at the local Wal-Mart which led to her next career. She worked there for more than a decade and through her hard work and attention to detail advanced to Store Assistant Manager. Helping customers and meeting new people were her fondest memories.

Anne was a ‘no nonsense’ type of gal and wise. She taught by example the importance of family, connection, love and hard work. Our family will deeply miss her. She was our rock and our teacher. We are forever touched and blessed to love her and be loved by her. Anne was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerry Parker.

She is survived by her son, Frank M. Parker and wife Nelsa of Fayetteville; her daughter, Rondol E. Bradshaw and her husband Charles of San Antonio; her daughter, Lisa A. Parker of San Antonio; Grandchildren Kayla Nichole Bradshaw of San Antionio; Henry Frank and Estrella Parker of Fayetteville. Her sisters, Lydia Teppner of Seattle and Gerlinde Simon of Germany.

Harding “Lee” Ward Jr, 84, peacefully entered into eternal rest on May 23, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Lee was born on September 10, 1941, in Brackettville to Harding L. Ward Sr. and Dorothy Rhea Ward, both of whom preceded him in death. As a young man, Lee accepted an enormous responsibility early in life, helping to support his mother and siblings. He worked tirelessly at whatever jobs he could find, including sheep shearing, serving as a volunteer firefighter, and truck driving to help provide for his family. Those early experiences shaped the man he became—hardworking, dependable, selfless, and deeply devoted to caring for others. Lee carried that strong sense of responsibility and work ethic throughout his entire life. He worked as a truck driver for more than 30 years, traveling across the country and taking pride in the work he did. His greatest joy came not from what he had for himself, but from making sure the people around him were cared for. Whether through a helping hand, quiet sacrifice, or steadfast support, Lee showed his love through action. Family and friends could always count on him when they needed him most.

Affectionately known to his family and close friends as “Pappa Daddy,” Lee was a source of wisdom, strength, humor, and unconditional love. He never met a stranger and had a gift for making everyone feel welcome and valued. Lee gave his life to Christ many years ago and served faithfully on the Deacon Board at New Zion Baptist Church, where he continued to fulfill his life’s work of serving Christ and others. One of Lee’s greatest treasures in life was his girls and his grandchildren, whom he loved dearly and spoke of often with pride and joy. Nothing brought him greater happiness than spending time with his family and celebrating their accomplishments and milestones.

Lee leaves behind a legacy of love with a family who loved him dearly and who will forever cherish the memories, lessons, and love he shared throughout his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harding L. Ward Sr. and Dorothy Rhea Ward, and his sisters, Rosemary Hawkins, Cerilla Stewart, Shirley Christian, and Martha McDonald. He is survived by his daughters, Sonya Pierson, Theresia Ward, Rochelle Jowers, Penni Sumpter, and Robin Thompson (Gerald); 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; his siblings, Luther Ward (Lou), Clarence Ward, Douglas Ward, and Beverly Kelley (Joe); along with a host of beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

His life was a testimony of faith, sacrifice, hard work, and unconditional love. Though he will be deeply missed, the love and legacy of “Pappa Daddy” will live on for generations to come.

A visitation will be held on Friday, June 5, 2026 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Brackettville Sunset Funeral Home, 302 E. Spring St, Brackettville, Texas.

A Celebration of Life honoring Harding “Lee” Ward Jr. will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at 301 N. Ann St., Brackettville, Texas 78832. Interment will follow at Seminole Indian Scout Cemetery in Brackettville, Texas. Family and friends are invited to gather afterward for a repast at the Carver School Annex, 506 S. Beaumont St., Brackettville, Texas 78832.

Serving as pallbearers are Kenneth Ward, Willie B. Fielder, Melvin Davis Jr., Marvin Davis, Michael Franklin, Douglas Ward Jr., Landon Ward, and Tommy Ward. Honorary pallbearers are Adrian Loftis, Justin Ward, Douglas “DJ” Jones, Gerald Thompson Jr., Gervante Thompson, Leroy Young, and Erris Barefield.

The family of “Pappa Daddy” wishes to express sincere gratitude for every act of kindness, prayer, phone call, floral tribute, and expression of love shown during this difficult time. Your support and compassion will always be remembered.

“His Lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.” ~ Matthew 25:23.

In Loving Memory of Flora Yubani Puebla

November 2, 1958 – May 25, 2026

With heavy hearts and deep sorrow, we announce the passing of the most beautiful woman – Daughter, Sister, Mother, Aunt, Grandmother, and Friend – Flora Yubani Puebla, who entered eternal rest on May 25, 2026. Born on November 2, 1958, she lived a life centered around love, family, compassion, and faith. Her presence was a blessing to everyone fortunate enough to know her, and her absence leaves a space in our hearts that can never truly be filled.

She devoted her life to caring for those around her. Whether through a simple phone call, a home-cooked meal, words of encouragement, or quiet acts of kindness, she showed love in the purest and most selfless ways. Family meant everything to her, and she treasured every moment spent with the people she loved most.

Those who knew her will remember her gentle heart, her strength through difficult times, and the unconditional love she gave so freely. She taught us the importance of compassion, resilience, and cherishing the little moments in life. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched and, in the memories, we will hold close forever.

She is survived by her children – Shamira, Daisy, and Sherwin - along with her mother Tomasa, her five sisters, two brothers, her grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who loved her deeply.

While our hearts ache with grief, we find comfort in knowing that her love will continue to guide us every day. Though she may no longer walk beside us, a sweet person like her will always live in our hearts, our stories, our laughter, and our love.
As Acts 24:15 says, “I have hope in GOD, which they themselves also accept, that there will be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and the unjust.”

Rest peacefully, dear Flora Yubani Puebla. You were deeply loved, and you will be missed more than words can ever express. We love you, our Ladybug Love.

05/27/2026

Carol Ann Halamicek Pendergrass passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, May 25th, at her home in Del Rio, Texas.

Born May 22, 1944, in El Campo, Texas, to the late Dr. John Florian Halamicek and Kathleen Sullivan Halamicek, Carol was a 1962 graduate of El Campo High School. Known for her fun and outgoing personality, Carol’s popularity and extracurricular involvement were only matched by her outstanding academic achievements.

Off to the University of Texas in Austin after High School graduation, Carol attended UT for three years until her plans for Medical School were sidetracked when she met a young Aggie named Carl Pendergrass after their mothers, who lived across the street from each other in El Campo, conspired for them to meet. They married on March 18, 1965, and moved to Houston, Texas, where Carl took a job with Superior Oil Company and attended South Texas School of Law at night. As expected, Carol remained committed to her academic pursuits, continuing her education and graduating in 1968 from the renowned College of Pharmacy at the University of Houston. A career she would both practice and enjoy for her entire professional life.

It was during their time in Houston that Carl and Carol welcomed three children: Lisa, Douglas and David. When Carl took a position with the Newton Law Firm in Del Rio, Texas, the family packed up and moved west. Shortly after arriving, son John joined the family.

Whether in Del Rio or when the family moved to El Campo, Texas, in 1984, and then back to Del Rio in 1993, Carol enjoyed a very busy life as both the matriarch of her family and as a member of various social and service-oriented clubs such as The Garden Club, The Pan American Club, and Republican Women of Texas. A lifelong Christian, she also served her churches in Del Rio and El Campo in many capacities and on many committees. Somehow, through her hectic life as Wife, mother, and Volunteer, Carol developed an extended list of lifelong friendships as well as being “Mom” to many of her children’s friends. Never knowing a stranger, there was nothing an extrovert like Carol enjoyed more than a wonderful visit with a friend, catching up over a glass of wine and sharing each other’s latest news.

Family was everything, and life was meant to be lived. Even after losing her beloved Carl in 2013, Carol did not slow down. Whether it was traveling, visiting her friends and family, volunteering, staying active at her church, or just going to the casino with her lady friends, to her, age was just a number, and her zeal and passion for life kept her busy enjoying her journey. Truly a life well lived and one we should all be so hopeful for ourselves. Carol will be missed by many, but her life will always be celebrated.

Carol Ann Halamicek Pendergrass is survived by her children: daughter Lisa Rogenes and husband Vince of Frisco; son Douglas and wife Toni of Farmington, NM; son David of Katy; and son John and wife Becky of Del Rio. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Elizabeth Pendergrass, Jenson Rogenes, Jonathan Rogenes, John Reed Pendergrass, Kate Pendergrass, Mila Rogenes, Aiden Pendergrass, Bannon Pendergrass, Douglas Pendergrass, Raylee Pendergrass, and Hadley Pendergrass. She is also survived by her brother, John Thomas Halamicek, and wife, Susan, of El Campo.

She is preceded in death by her husband Carl Pendergrass, her parents Dr. John and Kathleen Halamicek, and her granddaughter Savannah Pendergrass.

Viewing will be held on Friday, May 29th, from 5pm to 8pm at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home in Del Rio, Texas. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 30th, at 11a.m. at St. James Episcopal Church in Del Rio, Texas, with the Reverend Arnoldo L. Romero officiating.

Following a graveside service at the Masonic Cemetery in Del Rio, Texas, an opportunity to meet with the family and celebrate Carol’s life will be held in the St. James Episcopal Church dining hall.

Flowers can be sent to Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home. If preferred, donations can be made to St. James Episcopal Church.

Pallbearers are: Vince Rogenes, Jenson Rogenes, John Reed Pendergrass, Aiden Pendergrass, Bannon Pendergrass, and Douglas Pendergrass. Honorary pallbearers: John Halamiceck and Jonathan Rogenes.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Homes, Del Rio, Texas, (830) 778-2020. Serving families with dignity and respect.
