In the medical world, we try and lead with study-backed evidence. Sometimes a new study is worth a mention here...

🦶 **The largest real-world study of its kind delivers an important message: a custom orthotic is a real answer to people with flatfoot or pronation issues.

Researchers reviewed **669 patients with progressive collapsing foot deformity**—also known as adult-acquired flatfoot—across a large amount of clinics...

🔎 **What did the study find?**

After approximately **40 days of wear**, patients reported meaningful pain reduction, and **80% said their symptoms had improved**. Most of these patient's avoided surgery as a result.

But the most clinically useful finding was this:

✨ **Patients who reported greater orthotic comfort experienced greater pain relief and tended to wear their devices longer.**

💡 **Why does this matter?**

Orthotic care should not end when the device is dispensed. Proper fitting, a gradual break-in period, patient education, and timely adjustments can directly influence whether patients wear their orthotics consistently—and whether they improve.

At our office, we focus on more than simply prescribing a device. We monitor comfort, evaluate progress, address pressure areas, and make modifications when necessary.
