☀️ SUMMER HEAT EMERGENCIES: KNOW THE SIGNS ☀️
As the temperatures rise this summer, it’s critical to know the difference between Heat Exhaustion and Heat Stroke. Being able to spot the signs early can save a life!
Take a look at this quick reference guide to keep yourself, your family, and your neighbors safe:
Heat Exhaustion: Look for heavy sweating, dizziness, weakness, and nausea. Move to a cool place, rest, and drink cool water.
Heat Stroke (MEDICAL EMERGENCY): Look for confusion, a high body temp (above 103°F), a rapid pulse, and hot, dry skin with no sweating. Call 911 immediately and do NOT give them liquids to drink.
Stay Safe Checklist:
Drink plenty of water before you feel thirsty.
Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing.
Take frequent cooling breaks in the AC or shade.
Avoid strenuous outdoor activity during peak afternoon heat (10 AM - 4 PM).
