John came to Physical Therapy at Albany Med Outpatient Rehab after a total knee replacement in the spring of 2026.
About his time in PT, John said "I was impressed by the professional staff. Each PT therapist was highly skilled and patient, they took the time to ask me questions so they could modify my treatments throughout the therapy process. Please join us in congratulating Frances Williams, OTR/L, on earning the American Occupational Therapy Association Board Certification in Physical Rehabilitation!

This advanced credential recognizes occupational therapy practitioners who demonstrate extensive clinical experience, advanced knowledge, and a commitment to evidence-based practice and lifelong professional development. To qualify, practitioners must have at least three years of experience and 3,000 hours of service in physical rehabilitation within the past five years before successfully completing a rigorous certification examination.

This achievement reflects Fran's passion for learning and bringing the latest evidence-based care to her patients. We're grateful to have her knowledge and experience on our rehabilitation team.

Albany Med is helping patients who have had a stroke regain hand and arm function through an innovative therapy called Vivistim, a device that works to help the brain create new neural pathways when paired with intensive Occupational Therapy rehabilitation. For patients who thought they had reached a recovery plateau, this treatment is offering new hope and new possibilities. Our PTs and OTs had a great time representing Albany Medical Center Outpatient Rehabilitation at the CDPHP Workforce Challenge a few weeks ago. It was a fun evening to connect with coworkers, get moving, and have some fun along the way.

We're excited to be part of this innovative program helping stroke survivors regain hand and arm function. Featured here is our own Fran Williams, OTR/L, working with a patient using Vivistim therapy as part of their rehabilitation journey.

In a first in upstate New York, Albany Medical Center has implanted a device intended to improve arm and hand function in patients who have experienced a debilitating stroke.
