A patient texted me about vitamin B. Can I take this? Can I take this? Can I take this?

We've got to get out of the habit of popping vitamins because we saw something on social media. Supplement for a deficiency. Are you actually deficient?

With neuropathy symptoms this matters even more. Too much B vitamin can increase neuropathic symptoms, and so can not getting enough. That's why it has to be personalized.

Six weeks of physical therapy, two days a week, and your foot still hurts. Maybe it's even worse.

Stretching your calves, cold packs, rolling your foot on a frozen water bottle. You can do all of that at home. It's going through the motions, and it's not healing your tissue.

If what you're doing isn't working, stop. Back up and find out why it's happening in the first place.

Your glucose can look normal for a long time. When your cells stop accepting sugar out of the blood, your pancreas pumps out more and more insulin to keep up.

More insulin means more fat storage, so you're probably gaining weight. Meanwhile your pancreas, a really important engine in your body, is wearing out.

Eventually that's more medication, and then insulin. Better to catch it early.
