Protecting your skin isn't just a summer habit โ€” it's a year-round commitment!

Applying a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher every day can help reduce your risk of skin damage and skin cancer. Your skin is still at risk, even when the sun is not shining brightly.

๐ŸŒŽ August 1 was World Lung Cancer Day ๐Ÿ’™

We stand together to raise awareness, encourage education, and help break the stigma surrounding lung cancer. As the leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide, lung cancer affects millions of individuals and families each year โ€” but early detection can make a meaningful difference.

๐Ÿ”น Know The Facts:
โ€ข Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC) accounts for about 80โ€“85% of lung cancer cases.
โ€ข Small Cell Lung Cancer (SCLC) makes up about 10โ€“15% of cases and tends to grow and spread more quickly.

๐Ÿ”น Early Screening Matters:
For people at high risk, a Low-Dose CT (LDCT) scan can detect lung cancer before symptoms appear, when treatment options may be more effective. The scan is quick, non-invasive, and takes only a few minutes.

You may be eligible for screening if you:
โœ”๏ธ Are between 50 and 80 years old
โœ”๏ธ Have a 20 pack-year or greater smoking history
โœ”๏ธ Currently smoke or quit within the past 15 years

Not sure if you qualify? Take the Lung Cancer Risk and Screening Eligibility Quiz through the American Lung Association โ€” click the second link in our bio.

At SFPTI, we're committed to providing compassionate, personalized cancer care while empowering our community with the knowledge to make informed health decisions.

July is Sarcoma Awareness Month, a time to shine a light on a rare group of cancers that deserve greater awareness.

Sarcomas are cancers that begin in the body's connective tissues, including fat, muscle, bone, blood vessels, and other soft tissues. Because they can develop almost anywhere in the body and often present with subtle symptoms, they can be challenging to detect and diagnose.

Raising awareness can help encourage earlier evaluation of unusual or persistent symptoms and support those affected by this rare cancer.

This Sarcoma Awareness Month, join us in spreading knowledge, supporting patients and families, and advocating for continued research and advances in treatment.

๐Ÿ“ Strawberries: A Small Berry with Big Wellness Benefits

Summer brings the peak season for fresh, sweet strawberries! Packed with nutrients, strawberries are an easy way to support your overall health.

โค๏ธ Support heart health: Strawberries contain potassium, fiber, and anthocyanins โ€” powerful plant compounds that help support healthy blood vessels, circulation, and cholesterol levels.

๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Rich in antioxidants: Amongst the antioxidants, ellagic acid and anthocyanins that help protect cells from oxidative stress caused by free radicals.

๐ŸŒฑ Promote digestive health: The fiber in strawberries helps support regular digestion, while acting as a prebiotic to nourish beneficial gut bacteria. Their natural antioxidants may also help support a healthy inflammatory response in the digestive tract.

โš–๏ธ Naturally blood sugar friendly: With a low glycemic index, strawberries digest slowly, helping to minimize rapid spikes in blood sugar.

Nutrition is an important part of supporting overall wellness during and after cancer treatment. While no single food can prevent or treat cancer, enjoying a variety of colorful fruits and vegetables can be part of a balanced, nutrient-rich diet that supports your health!

๐Ÿ“ What's your favorite way to enjoy fresh strawberries? Tell us in the comments!

๐Ÿฉถ Today is Glioblastoma Awareness Day
Today, we honor the strength and resilience of everyone affected by glioblastoma โ€” the most common, aggressive, and treatment-resistant form of brain cancer.

We stand alongside those currently facing this diagnosis, celebrate the courage of survivors and their loved ones, remember those we've lost, and recognize the researchers, physicians, and advocates working tirelessly toward better treatments and, one day, a cure.

For some patients, proton therapy may be an important treatment option. By delivering radiation with greater precision, proton therapy can help reduce radiation exposure to surrounding healthy brain tissue while effectively targeting the tumor. Treatment decisions are individualized, and proton therapy may be appropriate for some, but not all, patients.
