๐Ÿ’™ Thoughtful Thursday ๐Ÿ’™
Sometimes we focus so much on what a child is working on that we forget to stop and celebrate what theyโ€™re already amazing at. ๐ŸŒŸ

Every child has unique strengths, talents, interests, and qualities that make them who they are. Today, letโ€™s take a moment to look beyond the challenges and celebrate those strengths. ๐Ÿ’š

โœจ What is your child amazing at?
Weโ€™d love to hear it! Tell us in the comments

๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ’œ Whatcha Reading Wednesday! ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ“š
Today weโ€™re diving under the sea with Finn and Hatch! ๐Ÿ ๐ŸŒŠ
Hatch is a tang fish with autism who experiences reef life in his own unique way. Through his brother Finnโ€™s advocacy, the reef community learns to understand, appreciate, and celebrate Hatchโ€™s differences. ๐Ÿšโœจ
Finn and Hatch is the first book in The Inclusive Reef Series, introducing children to neurodiversity, inclusion, awareness, and advocacy in a fun and engaging way.
๐Ÿ’œ A great reminder that being different doesnโ€™t mean being lessโ€”it means experiencing the world in your own unique way!

๐Ÿงฉ Term Tuesday: What Is Reinforcement?
Reinforcement is something that happens after a behavior that makes that behavior more likely to happen again.
For example:
๐ŸŽ A child asks appropriately for a snack โ†’ they get the snack.
๐Ÿ‘ A child finishes a difficult task โ†’ they receive praise.
๐ŸŽฎ A child completes their work โ†’ they earn time with a favorite activity.
The important part is that reinforcement is individualized. What motivates one child may not motivate anotherโ€”and that's okay

Whatcha reading Wednesday !

Mary May Is Not OK is a heartwarming, beautifully illustrated picture book that helps children understand autistic meltdowns and shutdowns through the eyes of a bright, creative girl named Mary May. When everyday sights, sounds, and feelings become overwhelming, Mary May's classmates learn that she's not being "bad" or "bossy", her brain simply experiences the world differently. Written in engaging rhyme and filled with colorful illustrations, this story teaches empathy, kindness, and practical ways children can support a friend during difficult moments. Perfect for classrooms, libraries, counseling offices, and families, Mary May Is Not OK encourages young readers to celebrate neurodiversity and reminds us all that every brain is different, every child belongs, and sometimes the greatest gift we can give is understanding.

๐Ÿงฉ Wednesday: โ€œWhat Does Independence Really Look Like?โ€
Myth: Independence means a child should be able to do everything completely on their own. โŒ
Reality: Independence can look different for every child. ๐Ÿ’™
It might mean:
๐Ÿ‘• Choosing what they want to wear
๐Ÿชฅ Brushing their teeth with less help
๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ Using AAC to ask for something
๐ŸŽ Making a simple snack
๐ŸŽ’ Packing their own backpack
๐Ÿงน Helping with a household task
๐Ÿ›‘ Asking for a break when they feel overwhelmed
๐Ÿ’ผ Learning skills that will help them become more independent as they grow
โœจ The goal isn't to do everything alone. The goal is to build the skills, confidence, and supports that help each child participate as independently as possible.
Every step toward independence is worth celebrating. ๐Ÿ’š
What is one independence skill your child has worked hard to learn? Tell us below! ๐Ÿ‘‡
