🛑 STOP pushing through pain until you read this!
We’ve all been there: the day after a tough workout, rolling out of bed feels like a chore. That’s DOMS (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness)—a normal part of building strength.
But how do you know when that ache crosses the line into a real injury?
Use this quick checklist from Vida Therapy Group to self-assess before your next session:
🟢 IT’S PROBABLY SORENESS IF:
• Feels like a dull, aching, or tight sensation
• Started 24–48 hours after your workout
• Improves slightly once you warm up and move
• Symmetrical (e.g., both quads or shoulders hurt equally)
🔴 IT MIGHT BE AN INJURY IF:
• Sharp, stabbing, or shooting pain
• Happened suddenly during a specific movement
• Gets worse when you exercise or put weight on it
• Localized to one specific spot or joint
• Visible swelling, redness, or warmth
👉 The Golden Rule: Normal muscle soreness should peak and begin fading after 2 to 3 days. If your pain is strictly on one side, gets sharper with movement, or lingers past a week—it’s time to stop guessing.
Got a nagging ache that won't go away? Don't let an injury set you back.
