We are truly grateful to everyone who joined us for the River City Funeral Home Open House this past Sunday. It was a wonderful afternoon, and we were honored to welcome our friends, neighbors, ministers a few local businesses, and families through our doors.
Thank you for the kind words, encouragement, flowers, and especially for taking the time to come visit with us. The support we have received as we begin this new chapter has meant more to us than we can express.
We are proud of the work that has gone into preparing River City Funeral Home to serve this community, but what made our Open House special wasn't the building—it was the people who filled it.
To Demopolis and the surrounding Black Belt communities: thank you for welcoming us. We look forward to serving families for many years to come with compassion, dignity, and professionalism.

Reuben Simm Cole, age 89, of Greensboro, Alabama, passed away on September 7, 2026. He was born December 21, 1936, in Hale County, Alabama, to Herbert and Ester Loulella Cole.

Reuben was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, retiring in 1985 at the rank of Senior Master Sergeant after over 26 years of dedicated service. Following his military retirement, he worked a paper route in Greensboro for The Tuscaloosa News, a job he greatly enjoyed. In his free time, Reuben enjoyed fishing.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, September 10, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at New Haven Baptist Church Cemetery in Greensboro, Alabama, with Bro. Steve Vernon and Bro. Wade McCrory officiating.

Reuben was born on December 21st, 1936 and passed away on September 7th, 2026 at the age of 89

Bettye Evans Richardson of Demopolis passed away at 88 years old on August 29, 2026.

Bettye was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Lan Richardson; her parents, Lencie and James Ross Evans; sister, Jimmie Martin; and brother, Thomas Ross Evans. She is survived by her sons, Gordon Lan Richardson, Jr. (Lillian) and Steven Richardson; daughter, Elizabeth Richardson O'Rourke (Michael); grandchildren, Gordon Lan "Trey" Richardson, III (Chelsea), James "Sims" Richardson (Catie), Emma Richardson Pierce (Fields), John "Jack" O'Rourke and William "Lan" O'Rourke; and great-grandchildren, Gordon Lan “Jordy” Richardson, IV, Colette Richardson, Rhodes Richardson, and Lilla Richardson.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 4th, at 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church
in Demopolis followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. with burial to follow at Riverside Cemetery in Demopolis.
