In 2005, Genesis Rehab was started, after Skibo saw a need to change the way physical therapy was delivered in the rural environment, treating the client as a whole, with the physical impairment just being the starting point. He set out to provide an atmosphere that welcomed clients warmly and treated them as part of a family, understanding that our patients often come to us at their worst, and de
mand from us our best. After opening the doors in August, he has seen Genesis grow from providing limited therapy services in a 1700 sq ft. facility that treats patients from surrounding counties including Greene, Sumter, Hale, and Perry counties. Genesis Rehab sees patients ranging from 6 months to 90 years old, with diagnosis of developmental delay to weakness, and everything in between. With such a wide variety of patients and pathologies seen over 14 years, Mr. Holman has a background in almost every aspect of physical therapy and remains diligent in placing patient needs at the forefront of the services provided at Genesis. In addition to this, it was apparent that clients were seeking the most advanced treatment options in physical therapy, so in 2002, Mr. Holman began to partner with the International Academy of Orthopedic Medicine to maintain knowledge on the latest “Best Practice” techniques that have been found to be most beneficial in evidence based studies. With this continually evolving information, excellent staff, a patient-centered treatment approach, and a love for teaching, Genesis Rehab has become the premiere location for physical therapy in West Alabama.
