It's been an adorable week at Oak Grove! 🐥🐶🐰💙

Over the last few days, our residents have been spoiled with some very special furry—and feathery—visitors! First, we welcomed a flock of baby ducks who quickly stole everyone's hearts. These little bundles of fluff loved being held by residents, and a few of them were even silly enough to hide under wheelchairs while exploring their surroundings! 🐥😊

Then came one of our favorite monthly traditions—our First Tuesday Puppy Party! As always, the puppies brought plenty of smiles, tail wags, and joy. And of course, Fifi the rabbit made a special appearance too, making the day even more memorable. 🐶🐰✨

Animal visits are always a hit with our residents, bringing laughter, comfort, and wonderful opportunities for connection. It's safe to say this has been a fun, heartwarming, and very animal-friendly week at Oak Grove! 💚

Creativity can show up in so many ways—through art, music, conversation, gardening, or simply trying something new. We love seeing how it comes to life in our community every day 💛

At Oak Grove, our residents always come first. 💚

No matter the role, every member of our team is dedicated to providing the highest level of care and support. From our frontline nursing staff to those working behind the scenes, it takes a compassionate and committed team to create the warm, welcoming environment our residents call home.

It’s more than just a job—it’s a shared mission to serve, support, and care for each and every resident, every single day.

Yesterday for Memorial Day, Oak Grove Christian Retirement Village was honored to welcome the DeMotte American Legion Post 440 and the DeMotte Boy Scout Troops of America as we gathered together to remember and honor the brave military personnel who gave their lives while serving in the United States Armed Forces. 🇺🇸❤️

It was a meaningful and heartfelt time of reflection, gratitude, and remembrance shared by residents, staff, families, and members of our community.

We are deeply thankful to the American Legion and the Boy Scouts for joining us and helping make the day so special. Their participation and dedication to honoring our nation’s heroes meant so much to everyone in attendance.

At Oak Grove, we are proud to pause and remember the courage, sacrifice, and service of those who gave everything for our freedom. 💙

The other day at Oak Grove, we had to say a heartfelt farewell to our dear friend Virginia as she moved closer to family. 💙

Virginia has been such a special part of our community and a treasured friend to so many residents and staff. To celebrate her and all the wonderful memories shared together, we surprised her with a special farewell gathering filled with smiles, hugs, laughter, and plenty of pictures with the friends she’s made here along the way. 📸✨

While we will certainly miss seeing her around campus, we are so happy she will be closer to loved ones and surrounded by family.

Thank you, Virginia, for the joy, kindness, and friendship you brought to Oak Grove. You will always be part of our family, and we wish you nothing but happiness in this next chapter! 💚

Today was such a special and emotional day at Oak Grove as our resident, Irene Evans, was surprised and celebrated during her very own art show! 🎨💙

Surrounded by family, friends, and members of our community, Irene was absolutely overjoyed—and honestly a little shocked too! 😊 The smiles, laughter, and excitement throughout the event made it clear just how much her beautiful artwork and inspiring life story mean to everyone around her.

Irene has spent a lifetime pouring her heart into both teaching and creating art. She attended grade school in Thayer, later graduated from DeMotte High School, and on June 14, 1952, married Thomas R. Evans, with whom she raised two sons.

Today, we were honored to celebrate not only Irene’s incredible artistic talent, but also her many accomplishments, her creativity, and the beauty she has shared with others throughout her life. ✨

Thank you to everyone who came out to support Irene and help make this art show such a memorable and meaningful event! 💚
