Students from across Grayson County are spending part of their summer as interns with United Way of Grayson County. Today, the group's theme focused on Kindness and they put it into action as they chalked the walk at our hospital entrance. We know that their messages of encouragement will be a welcome sight to our patients and visitors as they enter our doors!

Today was an important day for the TMC Graduate Medical Education Program as they hosted their Third Annual Research Symposium. We had a total of 15 entries and presenters included a combination of residents, medical students and faculty.

We want to acknowledge the research results shared today and express our congratulations to the group who took home first place honors this year on their case report titled “First Report of Renal Onocytoma Diagnosed by Trans-Duodenal Biopsies of the Right Kidney.” Well done!

Join us in congratulating Sheron Wagner, DNP, APRN, NNP-BC, for being selected by the Texas Nurses Association as one of 25 Outstanding Texas Nurses for 2026. Dr. Wagner, a provider with Millennium Medical Group, is the lead Neonatal Nurse Practitioner in our Level III NICU and a Clinical Assistant Professor and Program Coordinator for the Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Track at Baylor University’s Louise Herrington School of Nursing.

When asked what the award means to her, Dr. Wagner shared, “It is an honor and really, a privilege. I’m very blessed to have been put in a position where I can give back and put my 41 years of nursing experience into good use to help save lives across the world.”

For our staff, “Sharon instills knowledge and passion into our nurses, and we are blessed and thankful to have her on our team at Texoma Medical Center,” says Misti Boone, MSN, MBA-HC, RNC-NIC, NE-BC, Manager of TMC’s Children’s Services and Neonatal Program.

Happy EMS Week! All week long, we are celebrating with the 20+ agencies that expertly begin treatment in the field before safely bringing patients to our Emergency Department/Level III Trauma Center. Special meals and snacks have been available, and today we held our inaugural EMS Week Awards Celebration, where we presented our first Challenge Coins to Chief Jeff Patterson and Firefighter/Paramedic Jonathon Sheffield, both of the Whitesboro Fire Department.

There was a packed audience in our lobby who heard two separate stories about the remarkable lifesaving efforts performed by WFD, starting with dispatch, that led to the resuscitation of two different newborns. Thanks to their skill and their urgency, both babies spent over two months in our NICU before heading home to their families, where they are thriving today.

Every day, our local EMS teams arrive on scene and perform heroic duties. We honor each one of them and are grateful for their partnership!

We were honored to welcome Texas State Rep. Shelley Luther to TMC today for a tour of our facility and a meaningful conversation with our hospital leadership. Representative Luther serves on the Texas House Select Committee on Health Care Affordability.

During her visit, we discussed the real‑world challenges and opportunities shaping healthcare today, including those related to behavioral health in our region. These conversations are essential to ensuring our patients continue to receive high‑quality, accessible care.
