One of the biggest barriers to seeking treatment is misinformation about Exposure & Response Prevention (ERP).
ERP isn't about forcing yourself into terrifying situations or "just facing your fears." It's a collaborative, evidence-based approach that helps you respond differently to anxiety rather than letting it dictate your life.
Like any therapy, it should be individualized, paced appropriately, and grounded in a strong therapeutic relationship.
If you're considering ERP, don't be afraid to ask your therapist about their training, experience, and how they tailor treatment to each person.
Have you heard any of these misconceptions before? Let me know in the comments.
