If there's one thing we know about Marcylle, it's that when State Fair season rolls around, she's ready for family time, making memories, and at least one Fletcher's Corny Dog.

Today we're celebrating the woman who leads with heart, serves others well, and somehow manages to bring wisdom, encouragement, and a little bit of fun into everything she does.

CMS announced that it will exercise enforcement discretion for the new mandatory Hospice Election Statement Addendum requirement from October 1, 2026, through December 31, 2026. While hospices must still provide the addendum to every beneficiary electing hospice, Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs) will not deny claims solely because the addendum is missing or incomplete during this transition period. Instead, CMS will focus on provider education and helping hospices move toward full compliance.

Don't Mistake Relief for a Delay
The grace period provides breathing room, but not a pass. Hospices should use these next three months to validate workflows, educate staff, and ensure forms, policies, and documentation processes are aligned with the new requirements before full enforcement begins.

Some leaders build from a business plan. Others build from a need they know personally.

Laura Carfang was diagnosed with breast cancer at 34. During her own experience, she saw how difficult it could be to find credible information, meaningful connection, and ongoing support. So, she built what was missing. Laura is now the founder and CEO of SurvivingBreastCancer.org, a national nonprofit helping individuals and families navigate life from diagnosis through long-term survivorship.

I was honored to welcome Laura to 50% with Marcylle Combs. We talked about young-onset breast cancer, the realities of survivorship, and what it takes to turn personal adversity into meaningful action. Her story is a powerful reminder that leadership is not always about having the perfect plan. Sometimes, it begins when we recognize a gap and decide that someone needs to do something about it.

Every leader wants a team that communicates well. They want people who support each other and work toward the same goal. The truth is, strong teams do not magically appear because we put a group of nice people in the same room. They are intentionally built over time.

Great teams require trust, accountability, and clarity. Team members need to understand how their work contributes to the bigger picture and know what is expected of them. They also need leaders who are willing to have honest conversations, celebrate successes, and create opportunities for growth. Every team has challenges. The strongest teams learn how to work through them together. Leadership is not about having all the answers. It is about helping people succeed collectively rather than individually.

Jeremy is a child of the late 70’s whose personality crosses several generational divides due to his close relationship with three younger brothers and little sister (gen X, gen Y and millennial). He grew up in Lubbock and Denton, TX, then attended college in Abilene, TX where he played soccer and graduated with an education degree in two teaching fields, physical education and computer science. His loves in life are Jesus, his family and friends, helping people live out their passions and achieve their dreams, coaching, healthy competition and craft b**r.

Jeremy has been an integral part of the team since 1999 and has been responsible for many areas of IT within the organization, ranging from support technician, systems analyst, IT Director, EVP of Technology to his most recent role as CIO. Throughout his years serving the home health and hospice industry, Jeremy has enjoyed utilizing technology to enhance the lives of others, especially those that provide direct patient care.

In addition to leading successful IT teams, some of Jeremy’s experiences have included optimization projects in centralized coding, telehealth, EMR, point of care, accounting, AP and others.
