Bruising after filler is normal. It is also largely preventable.
There are a handful of things you can do in the days leading up to your appointment that meaningfully reduce the chance of waking up with a noticeable bruise, and they are simple.
Step one. Hydrate seriously starting 48 hours before. Well-hydrated skin tends to bruise less and recover faster. Step two. If your provider has cleared it medically, avoid blood-thinning supplements and over-the-counter pain relievers for 48 to 72 hours before. Things like fish oil, vitamin E, ibuprofen, and aspirin all fall into this category. Always check with your physician first, especially if you take any of these regularly. Step three. Skip the wine the night before, just for a day. Step four. Schedule your appointment at least two weeks ahead of any big event: a wedding, a photo shoot, or a vacation. Most bruising fades within a week, but two weeks gives you breathing room.
A little planning makes the recovery part of filler almost invisible.
