Dewayne Schneider

Boyd Dewayne Schneider, 85, of Cross Road Retirement Community in Asheboro, died October 6, 2026, at Hospice of Randolph.

Dewayne was born September 6, 1941, in Denton, NC, to Juanita Gallimore Snider (Lackey) and Joel Cyrus Snider. A 1959 graduate of Denton High School, he retired as a sales correspondent from Piedmont Packaging, Inc., in High Point. After retirement, Dewayne moved to Murrells Inlet, SC, where he enjoyed visiting Huntington Beach State Park, dining with his friends and neighbors from Captain’s Cove, and attending Myrtle Beach Pelicans baseball games. He later returned to North Carolina, residing in High Point.

He is survived by his son, Jason Schneider, of Apex, NC.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Cross Road Retirement Community, Attn: Finance Department, 1302 Old Cox Rd., Asheboro, NC 27205 or to the Guilford County Animal Services/Donations, 980 Guilford College Rd., Greensboro, NC 27409.

Janice Williams Glover

Janice Williams Glover, 81, of Denton, NC passed away on Friday, October 2, 2026, at her residence. Born on January 27, 1945, in Montgomery County, NC Janice was the daughter of Willie Williams and Ida Greene Williams.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, Oct. 7, at Pleasant Grove Church with Rev. Deborah Garner officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will be receiving friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Wednesday prior to the funeral service starting at Pleasant Grove Church. At other times the family will be meeting at the residence.

Janice was a faithful member of Victory Church in Asheboro where she was very active until a decline in her health. She had been employed at Klopman Mills, Mountain Vista Health Park, and Green Printing. As a devoted Christian Janice loved to study in her bible, working in her flower gardens, and singing and playing music. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Henry Lee Glover on June 3, 2004; her brothers, Rupert Williams and Sherrill Williams; and by a son-in-law, Mackie Evans on June 19, 2026.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, William “Bill” Glover and his wife Patti; daughters, Brenda Evans and Barbara Nance and her husband Mike; sisters, Joanne Leluan and Leah Raye McIntyre; 9 grandchildren, Michael Wayne Glover, Roy Hulin, Miles Buie, Colton Buie, Amber Nance, Kasey Atwell, Patrick Glover, Dakota Glover, and Issac Glover; 11 great-grandchildren, Michael Isaiah Glover, Andrew Lee Glover, Jaxxon Todd Buie, Amelia Raye Buie, Haley Atwell, Andi Atwell, Victoria Atwell, Roman Atwell, Amelia Atwell, Charlotte Poole, and Ava Nance; and by numerous nieces and nephews.

Kaisley Dixie Blalock

Kaisley Dixie Blalock infant daughter of Wesley Blalock and Whitney Hunt was born on September 29, 2026 and entered into heaven on Tuesday, September 29, 2026.

Among those left to cherish her memory are her parents, Wesley Blalock and Whitney Hunt; her sister, Kelsea Dianne Blalock; grandparents, Bill Coe, Cathy Forbes, and Greg Forbes.

A celebration of life for Kaisley will be held at a later date.

Bobby Steve Metcalf

Bobby Steve Metcalf, 62, of Yates Rd., Denton, NC passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2026, at Atrium Health High Point Medical Center. Steve was born on April 7, 1964, in Davidson County, the son of Terry Buren Metcalf and Janette Faye Gallimore Metcalf.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, Oct. 1, at Grubb's Grove Original Church of God Cemetery with Rev. Toney Parsons officiating. A visitation will be held from 12:30 PM until 1:30 PM on Thursday at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and at other times at the residence.

Steve was of the Baptist faith and had worked as a machine operator in the furniture industry for Councill Craftsman LLC and DARRAN Furniture Industries. Steve enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, and farming with his animals. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Ronnie Metcalf.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Cooper Metcalf; son, Christopher Steven Metcalf (Rose Fritts); daughter, Meghan Lynn Metcalf; his granddaughter, Ariel Rose Metcalf; sister, Terri Lynnette Metcalf Shaw (Talton); and by numerous nieces and nephews.

Ronda Smith Walton

Mrs. Ronda Kay Smith Walton, age 82, of Cook Road, Denton, NC passed away on September 14, 2026 at Atrium Health Baptist Medical Center.

A service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at Chapel Hill Global Methodist Church with Rev. Chris Smith and Rev. Thomas Frizzell officiating with burial to take place in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 18, 2026 at Briggs Funeral Home.

Ronda was born on October 4, 1943 in Davidson County to Arthur Reece Smith and Carmol Cloie Luther Smith. She was a graduate of Denton High School class of 1962 and graduate of Ashemore Business College class of 1963. After Business College she went to work for Thomasville Furniture in Human Resources for 50+ years. Married her first husband, Dawson M. "P*e Wee" Carrick in 1963 until his death in 1992. Married Mickey "Mic" Walton on November 18, 1995 who passed away on July 29, 2026. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Bobbie Smith.

She was an active member of Chapel Hill Global Methodist Church all of her life. Ronda served in various areas of church, youth leader, pianist, Sunday School Teacher, member of Official Board and Church Trustee. Ronda was well known for her delicious Red Velvet Cakes that she donated to the Denton Lions Club for their auctions and also to church functions. She was always busy crocheting or sewing blankets for mothers of new babies or grandbabies. Ronda was always serving, loving, and caring for friends and family.

Ronda is survived by her daughter, Kelly Surratt and her husband Todd of Oak Island, NC; son, Brad Walton and his wife Jammie of Tampa, FL; grandsons, Justin Surratt and his wife Brittany and Jadin Surratt; brother, Derald Smith and his wife Linda; sister, Ava Badgett and her husband Sid; and by numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Chapel Hill Global Methodist Church, PO Box 1967, Denton NC 27239 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105.

James "Jimmy" Matthew Grubb

James "Jimmy" Matthew Grubb, 84, of Lexington, NC passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2026, at Liberty Commons Nursing & Rehabilitation Center of Rowan County.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, Sep. 19, 2026, at Hughes Grove Baptist Church with burial to follow n the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1:00 to 2:00 PM prior to the funeral service starting.

Mr. Grubb was born on April 8, 1942, in Davidson County the son of Matthew Steven Grubb and Millie Arlene Cody Grubb. He was a member of Hughes Grove Baptist Church where he had served as a Deacon. Mr. Grubb had worked as a cloth cutter with Burtons until its closure and later at Thayer Coggin Inc. until his retirement. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Carl Lee Grubb.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Leonard Grubb; son, Steve Grubb and his wife Deanna; daughter, Sandra Grubb Loflin and her husband Tony; sister, Mary Louise Williams; grandchildren, Brantly Grubb and his wife Sarah, Lindsey Grubb, Casey Raino and her husband Thomas, Tony Loflin, Jr. and his wife Jenny; great-grandchildren, Reba Raino, Lilly Loflin, and Landon Loflin.

Danny Michael Grubb

Danny Michael Grubb, 71, of Grubb Drive, Denton, died Monday, September 7, 2026, at his residence. No services are to be announced at this time.

Born in Davidson County on January 16,1955, he was the son of Joe Franklin and Rose Amelia Bohlinger Grubb. He was an upholsterer.

Mr. Grubb is survived by 2 sons, Daniel Grubb and Eli Grubb, both of Thomasville; daughter, Rose Vang (Bill Vang-Tran) of Bristow VA; brother, Frank Grubb; 2 sisters, Phyllis Grubb and Martha Bost; 6 Grandchildren.

Mary Louise Peacock

Mary Louise Peacock, 86, formerly of NC HWY 8, Lexington, NC passed away on Friday, September 4, 2026, at Mountain Vista Health Park in Denton. Born on February 7, 1940, in Davidson County she was the daughter of Samuel Lee Peacock and Alice Hedrick Peacock.

A funeral service will be held at Mountain View Baptist Church where she was a member on Saturday, Sep. 12, 2026 at 3:00 PM with Rev. Tim Miller officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 PM prior to the service starting at the church.

Mary was a member of the first graduating class at Central Davidson High School and went on to attend Ashmore Business College. She had been a bookkeeper in the textile industry. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sister, Bessie Peacock, and by brothers, Grady Peacock and Charles Peacock.

She is survived by brothers, Johnny Peacock and Athel Peacock and his wife Anita; sister-in-law, Carol Peacock; nieces and nephews, Alan Peacock (Cathy), Austin Peacock (Carrie), Samuel Peacock, Melissa Clark, and Jennifer Brunck (George); and by several great nieces and nephews.

Patricia Morris Carroll

Patricia Morris Carroll, 90, of Handy Rd., Denton, NC passed away on Sunday, September 6, 2026, at Novant Health Thomasville Medical Center. Born in Forsyth County on October 23, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Zeb W. Morris, Sr. and the late Alma Luther Morris.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, Sep. 11, 2026 at Lineberry Church with Rev. Jamie Akin and Cathy Ward officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 1:30 PM until 3:00 PM prior to the funeral service and other times at the residence on Handy Rd.

Patricia was an active member of Lineberry Church where she had been a member of the choir, taught Sunday School, helped in children ministries, and served as President of the Methodist Women. She was instrumental in Lineberry Church assisting with Open Hands of Davidson County providing a monthly meal. She had also worked as a teachers assistant at Denton Elementary School where she also was a bus driver and she had previously been involved in the Denton Ladies Civitan Club. Known as being a great cook, Patricia naturally enjoyed cooking, family get togethers was something she always looked forward to, traveling to the mountains, playing cards, and studying in her Bible.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Carroll; daughter, Wendy Carroll Cadle; her siblings, Juanita Samlin, Chris Johnson, Hobert Morris, Zeb Morris, Jr., Geraldine Leach, Peggy Martin, Foy Morris, and Bonnie Garner.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Julie Carroll (Janelle) and Pam Carroll; son, Bo Carroll (Ellen); sister, Sylvia Russell; grandchildren, Bowman Carroll, Isabella Love, Jacob Cadle, and Mary Elizabeth Caldwell; great-grandchildren, Zeb Carroll, Adah Carroll, Louella Love, Selah Love, Jaxon Cadle, Walker Cadle, Ellie Caldwell, and Andrew Caldwell.

Hazel Walker Garner

Hazel Iwana Walker Garner, 92, a resident of Mountain Vista Health Park and formerly of Old Camp Rd., Denton, NC passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at Atrium Health Lexington Medical Center. Born on October 10, 1933, in Guilford County, NC she was the daughter of Isaac Daniel Walker and Alice Garner Walker.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, August 28, 2026 at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Rev. Scott Davis and Rev. Sandy Young officiating. Interment will follow at Tom's Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 PM prior to the service starting and at other times at the home of Danny and Shelia Garner.

Hazel had worked in the hosiery industry and was a member of Siloam Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thurman Alson Garner; her brothers, Larry Walker, Bobby Walker, Kenneth Walker, and David Walker; sisters, Linda Coble, Kathleen Garner, Pauline Coltrane, and Joann Bean.

She is survived by sons, Doug A. Garner, Danny L. Garner, and Billy E. Berrier; daughter, Marlene Hedrick; sister, Imogene Morris; grandchildren, Melissa Hicks, Eric Garner, Jason Garner, Brian Hedrick, Jennifer Klinger, Heidi Aldridge, Brittany Underwood, Brett Berrier, and Julie Lapsley; great-grandchildren, Julian Hicks, Ella Hicks, Aaron Walters, Bryson Garner, Alannah Hedrick, Brayden Aldridge, Mason Aldridge, Blakely Underwood, Reagan Underwood, Jonah Lapsley, and Sonny Lapsley.
