Mr. Douglas "Doug" Allen Westbrook, age 85, of Lick Creek Church Road, Denton NC passed away on Monday, June 8, 2026 at his residence.

In honor of Douglas Westbrook the family will have a Celebration of Life at Clear Springs Global Methodist Church on June 20, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be at the home.

Doug was born on July 22, 1940 in Franklin, Virginia to Joseph Hugh Westbrook and Elsie Westbrook. He is preceded in death by his parents, his son Brian Westbrook, his siblings Walter Westbrook, Daniel Westbrook, Larry Westbrook, Carroll Westbrook, Heides Cranford, Rose Powell and Jean Jones

Mr. Westbrook retired from Parkdale Mills in 2000, he volunteered at South Davidson Resources Center and Robin Sage Military Training. He was a loyal member of Clear Springs Methodist Church. He loved hunting and fishing with his sons.

He is survived by his wife, Martha Poole Westbrook of the home; son, David Westbrook (Donna); daughter, Janet Edwards (Tim); Special Adopted son, J.T. Tollison (Brenda); Daugher-in-Law, Pam Westbrook; sisters, Myrtle Carwile, Wilma Michael (David), Margaret Morrow (Ika) and Elizabeth Wright (Tom); grandchildren, Ashley Barker (Nathan), Keelie Westbrook, Dalton Westbrook (girlfriend Autum), Billy Zmijewski (Chassity) and Mandy Hooper (Scotty); great-grandchildren, Ethan, Emma, Eli, Kaleigh, Hannya, Marrisa and Casen; 13 nieces and 4 nephews.

Margaret Ellen Loflin, 89, of Denton, NC passed away on Monday, June 8, 2026, at Randolph Hospice House after a 3 month illness. Born in Davidson County on March 20, 1937, the daughter of Virgil and Ada Hammond Loflin.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, June 11, at Science Hill Friends Meeting with Pastor Michael J. Fulp, Pastor Alvin Battle, and Pastor Andy Garner officiating. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery in Asheboro. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM prior to the service starting. She will lie in state at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM on Thursday.

Margaret graduated from Farmer High School, aside from being the caregiver to her parents, Margaret also retired from Acme-McCrary in Asheboro where she had been a sewer. Margaret was a member of Science Hill Friends Meeting where she was involved in Science Hill Quaker Ladies group. She was preceded in death by her parents.

left to cherish her memory are extended family; Page, Lorrie, Jordan, Megan and Zoey Paige Lowe.

Her extended family is most grateful for all the care and love shown to Margaret Ellen by Hospice of Randolph County, Maddie McNeil RN, Amanda and Renee her CNA's, the staff of Randolph Hospice House, as well as 4 Generations Care, Ramona, Maria, Linda, Sadie, Susan, Kim and Stephanie. Mrs. Terry Lynn Andrews Moody, 76, of Lexington, NC passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at her residence after an illness of two months. Born on February 23, 1950, in Forsyth County the daughter of the late William Ray Andrews and Betty Lou Andrews.

Terry graduated from North Davidson High School in 1968 and earned an Associate Degree in Executive Secretariat Science from Forsyth Technical Institute. In 1987 the Professional Secretaries International awarded Terry with the rating of – Certified Professional Secretary.

Terrys career started in the Transportation Industry with McLean Trucking Company, where she met the love of her life Robert. She continued her career with Drovers National Bank, Chicago, IL., Thalhimers Retail, Winston-Salem, NC and Earl M. Chiles an American Businessman and Philanthropist, Portland, OR.

Terry retired in Portland in 1996 and moved to Dallas/Ft. Worth, TX as her husband continued to work with Con-way Transportation. During their stay in Texas, Terry worked as a volunteer at the Cooks Children’s Dialysis Unit and Indian Springs Middle School as a Teachers Aid.

Terry and Robert, who eventually retired, moved back home to Lexington, NC where they celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary this past August 21st, 2025. They have enjoyed their many years of travel & making new friends through out the United States and Canada.

People who knew Terry quickly became aware of her athletic ability to play slow pitch and fast pitch softball. She was also always ready to join in a pick up game of basketball. While living in Chicago she enjoyed going to the ball park to cheer for her Chicago Cubs.

I would like to thank the entire staff at Mountain Vista Health Park in Denton, NC who looked after Terry (with love) for the past nine months.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Robert Gray Moody; her brother, Gary Andrews of Statesville; and her sisters, Pam Lowery and Joy Andrews both of Winston Salem. Terry was preceded in death by her parents.

A private family graveside service will be held at Tom's Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery; there will be no public visitation.

Joyce Bean Snider, 93, formerly of Shiptontown Rd., Lexington, NC passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at Mountain Vista Health Park in Denton. Born on September 9, 1932, in Davidson County she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Ella Ingram Bean.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, June 1st , at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Rev. Tommy Robbins and Rev. Ricky Hicks, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Summerville Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM on Monday prior to the funeral service at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton.

Joyce was a faithful member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church. She found great pleasure in her years as being a certified nursing assistant at Mountain Vista Health Park. Outside of her church and work life she also enjoyed cooking for family, visiting with others, and helping those in need. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Burrell U. Snider, a son, Maynard Snider, and a grandson, Dustin Campbell.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Kenneth Snider and his wife Pat; daughter, Lavae Hicks and her husband Ricky; daughter-in-law, Phyllis; her sisters, Carol Vaughan, Jeanie Latham, Estella Michaels; her brother, Griff Bean (Janeth); grandchildren, Jamie Snider, Larissa Brown (Allen), Terri Hardy (Ronnie), Wendy Stimpson (Nathan), Tracy Hutchins (Perry), Ricky Hicks, Jr. (Renee), Jennifer Hicks (Tony), and Sebastin Hicks; 16 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren.

Robert Jefferson "Jeff" McKinney, a devoted family man, community leader, and lifelong steward of tradition, passed away peacefully at his residence in Denton, North Carolina, on Sunday, May 24, 2026, at the age of 68. Born in Gaston County on October 15, 1957, Jeff was the beloved son of the late Bob McKinney and Nancy Miller McKinney.

Jeff’s professional journey was deeply rooted in family heritage and hard work. He began his career at Jacob’s Creek Stone Company, working alongside his grandfather and father, before ultimately taking the helm as owner. His engagement with the company spanned over half a century, a testament to his dedication and unwavering commitment to the family's legacy.

Beyond his career, Jeff was a pillar of his community and church. A faithful member of Summerville Baptist Church, he served diligently as a deacon and was an active participant in the Men's Brotherhood. Through this outreach ministry, Jeff devoted countless hours to building ramps for those in need and cutting firewood for elderly neighbors, demonstrating his genuine compassion and selflessness.

Jeff was equally passionate about his community roles. He held the position of past president of the Denton Jaycee’s Club, volunteered as a RA leader, coached little league, and served on the Board of Hospice of Davidson County. During his presidency on the Hospice Board, he helped lay the groundwork for what is now the Hinkle Hospice House, a significant achievement that has had a lasting impact on the care and support available within Davidson County.

Jeff was a loyal Clemson fan who never missed a chance to wear orange and purple. He loved spending time on the golf course and in his younger years on the tennis court. He was an outstanding baseball pitcher from little league through early college. However, the true center of his heart was his family. He was a devoted husband to his loving and caring wife, Debbie Hedrick McKinney, a proud and supportive father to his son, Matthew McKinney, and daughter, Ashley McKinney, and a cherished grandfather to RaeLynn and Isla McKinney. Jeff never missed any of his children’s sporting events—a tradition that joyously continued with his granddaughter RaeLynn. His grandchildren held a special place in his heart, embodying the warmth and affection he generously gave.

Jeff is survived by his wife Debbie, his children Matthew McKinney and his wife Kristin and Ashley McKinney, and his treasured grandchildren RaeLynn and Isla. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Nancy McKinney, and his brother, Mark McKinney.

A visitation will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Briggs Funeral Home – Denton Chapel, located at 103 E Salisbury St, Denton, NC. The funeral service will take place on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Summerville Baptist Church with Rev. Thomas Frizzell and Rev. Flynn Richardson officiating, followed by interment at Mountain View Memorial Gardens.

Robert Jefferson "Jeff" McKinney's life was marked by steadfast devotion to his family, tireless community service, and an enduring faith. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched and the community he so dearly loved. He will be remembered with the greatest respect and affection by all who knew him.

Margie Clarice Wright, 99, of Denton, North Carolina, passed away May 16, 2026 at Mountain Vista Health Park in Denton. Born on April 30, 1927, in Davidson County, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Franklin Wright and Ida Lee Lambeth Wright.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, May 21 at Cid Community Church with Rev. Josh Kepley officiating.

No visitation will occur.

Do you remember being stuck in a line of vehicles on 109 behind an elderly woman in a grey 90's era Oldsmobile?

Recall the same lady and vehicle at the gas station, enjoying her humor so much you couldn't help but fill her tank up yourself?

Perhaps you may've helped her into the Food Lion, or many years prior, she may've even bagged your groceries when working at Winn Dixie (and on a rainy day, she may've even worn her signature paper bag hat she'd make to keep her head dry)?

Margie was the youngest of ten children who grew up on a farm in Cid, six miles north of Denton.

She never married but devoted her life to hard work and focused care for her extended family and friends.

From newborn infants to the elderly, and any age in between, she babysat, cut hair, and aided the ill.

All while tending fields, working the family dairy, dressing chickens and selling them in town, and working at the various jobs she held over the years.

Every sore joint she had in her later years was well earned.

She was a frequent visitor of family and friends at Mt Vista Senior Care in Denton, until becoming a resident herself.

To all who cared for her patiently, shared a laugh with her (she never met a stranger), filled her tank, loaded her groceries, gave her a birthday cake, worked on her car, called as a wellness check from the sheriff's department, or bestowed any sort of kindness upon her, thank you so very much.

She was salt of the earth. A unique, often feisty, spirit.

And thankfully, the Lord graciously employed Margie and her one-of-a-kind character to bless many over nearly a century.

Micheal "Mike" Ray Cranford, 73, of Denton, NC passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem.

Mr. Cranford was born on November 10, 1952, in Cabarrus County, NC the son of the late Ralph Herman Cranford and Peggy Shue Cranford. He was a member of Lineberry Church and had worked in part sales for heavy equipment with International Harvester and John Deere. Some of his favorite hobbies included taking trips to the beach, fishing, watching NASCAR, barbecuing, listening to blues music, buying and selling antiques, and he enjoyed going to Lefler's Place for a hot dog. Above all else Mike loved being with his dear family especially spending time with his grandchildren.

in addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a daughter, Autumn Lynn Cranford.

Left to cherish Mike's memory of his loving wife Rosemary Graves Cranford; son, Micheal Paul Cranford; daughter, Sara Anne Cranford and her fiance Ritchie Clayton Stegall; brothers Barry Hoover and Aaron Cranford and his wife Kathy; grandchildren, Cody Rinehardt (Erin), McKenna Cranford, Chandler Cranford, Jacob Cranford, Eli Morrison, Riley Morrison, Parker Morrison, and Braylon Pleasants; great-grandchildren, Autumn and Jackson; step-daughters, Rebekah Pleasants, Emily Morrison (Jeremy Edwards), and Morgan Pleasants.

The family will have a private memorial service at later date.

James "Jay" Carmon Harris, Jr.

James "Jay" Carmon Harris, Jr., a devoted family man, faithful church member, and dedicated professional, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at his residence in Davidson County, North Carolina. He was 85 years old.

Born on January 1, 1941, in Davidson County, Jay was the beloved son of the late James Carmon Harris, Sr. and Vonciel Connell Harris. He carried forward the legacy of his family with pride and integrity throughout his life.

Jay pursued a career as a computer programmer with Thomasville Furniture Industries, where his technical acumen and diligence were highly valued. Beyond his professional achievements, he was a proud veteran, having served honorably in the US National Guard. His service reflected his commitment to his country and community.

A man of diverse interests, Jay had a passion for vintage cars and was a gun enthusiast. These hobbies brought him joy and enriched his life, reflecting a spirit of appreciation for craftsmanship and history.

Jay was a devoted member of Mountain View Baptist Church in Lexington, where he took an active role until his health began to decline. His faith and involvement in the church community were among his proudest accomplishments, underscoring his dedication to spiritual growth and fellowship.

He is survived by his sons, Charlie C. Harris and Justin R. Harris, who carry forward his memory and values, and by his sister, Betty Henley, who shared in the bond of family through the years. Jay was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Minnie Somers Harris, with whom he shared a life of love and partnership, as well as his parents.

Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Jay are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on Monday, May 18, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Briggs Funeral Home - Denton Chapel, located at 103 E Salisbury St, Denton, NC 27239. A funeral service to honor his life will be held the following day, Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Mountain View Baptist Church, 407 Mountain view Church Rd., Lexington, NC 27292 with Rev. Tim Miller officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

James "Jay" Carmon Harris, Jr. will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his faith, and his community. His legacy endures in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
