Thank you Self Defense 4 U for allowing me to teach classes for the last 3 weeks while my brother Tom Hogue and his wonderful wife Alex were vacationing in Romania.

I had an incredible opportunity to work with many people, meet students and parents during those weeks but these two guys had a full time job keeping me informed, sharing “do’s and don’ts” for the school as it was my number one goal to preserve the high quality of training and culture while Tom and Alex were away.

Needless to say THESE GUYS ARE SOME OF THE BEST, most respectful, eager to learn and ready to share instructors you’ll see anywhere.

So,to Caleb and Hunter THANK YOU for making those 3 weeks such a great experience and just FUN!!!!!!!!

Let’s go it again some day!!!!!

This deserves as many comical comments as you can come up with.

Here are my comments

1. “This guy’s mastered the ancient art of not even trying. Moves slower than Wi-Fi on a bad day, yet everyone falls like bowling pins.”
2. “When your opponent attacks, but you’ve already ascended into statue form. True stillness = true violence.”
3. “He blinked once. Five black belts hit the floor. Must be that ultra-minimalist martial arts style.”
4. “Bro’s defense is 99% boredom, 1% gravity. The attackers tripped over his aura.”
5. “Standing so still, even mosquitoes hesitate. Meanwhile, attackers are flying like it’s a clearance sale on concussions.”

Parents: your job on the sidelines is not to coach.

When kids are competing, they need support, not confusion. Constant sideline coaching can mix messages, shake confidence, and take the fun out of the game.

Instead, parents should do three simple things:
• Cheer positively and encourage effort.
• Respect the coaches, referees, and players.
• Be present, stay calm, and let the child enjoy the game.

A great parent lifts their child up without trying to control the game.

My wife and I have three daughters here are some accomplishments this technique drove
- all three play multiple musical instruments
- one was on an Olympic gymnastics path
- all three competed in dance
- 1 traveled to Europe as the principal violinist
- 1 plays 4 instruments and was the singer of a band
- 1 is a 3rd degree Black Belt
- 1 played with Ricky Skaggs and Christina Aguilar on live TV awards show
- 2 competed in gymnastics
- all 3 are artists
- all three love God and Jesus
- 2 have been in management since there 20’s

Support from the sidelines. Coach from home but not too much. READ THE ROOM

Don’t live vicariously through your kids activities!!!! Help them enjoy their moments don’t ruin it for them.
