So. Many. Diapers.

And before you come at me for no. 6 - of course you’re not using a dirty diaper to wipe. The front part of of the diaper is usually clean and dry (u less they’ve been in that diaper waaaaaayyy too long and it’s soaked through or they blew out up the front) - and if it is, I use it as a first pass when there is 💩 and it saves a wipe or two.

Just so we’re clear, pretty much everyone is going to have an opinion and there will always be someone who doesn’t agree with what you choose, so take in all the info, don’t let anyone half arse what they share with you, stand in what feels right to you, and leave the rest behind.

It’s not my choice. It’s yours.
It’s not their choice. It’s yours.

And you most definitely do not have to do something because everyone else is, or isn’t. ✌🏼

40 weeks, no worries! I mean, I know you want that baby out, but also, it is NORMAL to be here and having nothing happening.

Nearly every sign of labor also can mean nothing, so just do NOT be discouraged if there is “nothing” happening. That doesn’t tell you anything about what is going to happen in one hour, tonight, or tomorrow!

So for now, rest. Follow along for more, for both your birth and postpartum. And if you want to and are able? Try the miles circuit or some other fetal positioning exercises (simple is fine)!

But you’re not off base and you’re not over due and you’re okay when the clock turns over to 40 weeks, okay?

If you’re new here, hi, I’m Lo! I’m a labor and mom/baby nurse, lactation counselor, and mama x 4. If you’re pregnant, mommin’, or are prepping for birth, postpartum, or breastfeeding, stick around, particularly if you’re NOT into the “you’re wrong, I’m right, this is the best way” type of mom content. This space is definitely for you. ♥️

Pitocin comes up in so many birth conversations, especially during labor induction.

But what actually IS Pitocin? How is it different from the oxytocin your body naturally makes? What do you need to know before these convos? And why does any of it matter?

This episode breaks down 8 things I think you should know about Pitocin before birth - as a nurse and a mom who has had 4 babies these last 9 years too.

Comment E68 and I’ll send this episode over to you!

Seriously. Don’t do everything. Do some small, easy things. Everything isn’t possible anyway when it comes to birth prep.

These 2 are simple. Easy. They just use the you’ve got.

Definitely comment PREPME to take a look at the guide I’ve got for this prep - it’ll make the end of your pregnancy so chill and informed while you wait and then you’ll be confident and ready when contractions start and it is go time.

Ideally your care team is telling you ALL that is going on before they are doing it. There are a lot of moving parts and many happen all at once so it’s nice to know what’s what before you get in there.

Also - some of this happens BEFORE the OR (like maybe the cath or the SCDs). And you can use an epidural for the CS if you have one (and won’t need the initial spinal placement).

Basically, these are general expectations - and always always always ask Q’s and speak up if you feel like you don’t know what’s going on around you and you want to!

There’s a lot of things I really don’t think THEY need (seriously, baby doesn’t need much more than a diaper and you?!), but gosh, these are things I selfishly just totally love.

And almost all of them have been around for me since my very first baby (which is saying something, since there are sooooo many more options today than there were with my first baby).

Comment TOP9 and I’ll send you this lots of my ride or dies!

Give my your newborn favorite/have to have?!

What do you mean she will never sing “pink ponytail?” instead of “pink pony club?” again?

I didn’t know that last time was the last time! 😭😭😭

Hit me with their cutest mispronunciations. Are they not the best thing ever?!

When to go to the hospital? ➡️ check your emotions, not just those contractions!

If you’re here for a “I did these 5 things and I didn’t tear his 95th percentile head” list, I don’t have it for you.

Of course those things can help. AND there’s more to that story - so that’s what I’m breaking down here.

Hope it helps!
