I’ve been meaning to share an update about The Accessible Artery because it’s about to look a little different.
When I started this page about four years ago, my vision was to create accessible art lessons and creative experiences for people of all ages and abilities. As an art teacher with a master’s degree in Special Education, I wanted to make art more accessible and create spaces where everyone could experience the connection, confidence, and joy that creativity can bring. That vision is where The Accessible Artery came from, and it’s a mission that has stayed with me.
A lot has changed over the past five years.
I went back to school, earned my master’s degree in Counseling and Art Therapy, and recently began practicing as a Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate (LPCC). As I’ve grown professionally, I’ve realized that The Accessible Artery still reflects the work I’m called to do—it has simply evolved alongside me.
I’m excited to share that The Accessible Artery is becoming the name of my therapy practice. I’m grateful to be building that practice as part of Mariposa Center for Infant, Child, and Family Enrichment, an incredible collaborative of independently owned therapy practices. The Accessible Artery is my practice within the Mariposa community, where I provide counseling and art therapy as an LPCC and Art Therapist.
I’m especially passionate about working with children and families, individuals with disabilities, helping professionals—including educators, therapists, and caregivers—and adults navigating burnout, life transitions, and career transitions. My work is deeply influenced by the principles of trauma stewardship and the belief that the people who spend their lives caring for others deserve spaces where they can be cared for, too.
Going forward, this page will reflect this next chapter. I’ll be sharing more about art therapy, mental health, creativity, accessibility, and the work I have the privilege of doing every day. My hope is that this page continues to be a place where people can learn, feel encouraged, and find resources that support their own growth and well-being.
