✨ The Way of the Mystic ✨

What if the sacred isn't somewhere far away on a mountaintop—but right here, in the ordinary moments of everyday life?

This Sunday at Unity on the Avenue, we explored the wisdom of mystics from many traditions who remind us that divine presence can be found everywhere: in the beauty of nature, in moments of silence, in acts of compassion, in the laughter of a child, in the rhythm of our breath, and in the simple practice of being fully present.

Through stories, meditation, and spiritual insight, we were reminded that we are all capable of experiencing awe, wonder, and a deeper connection to Spirit. The mystic's path is not reserved for a select few—it is an invitation available to each of us. When we slow down, quiet the mind, and open the heart, we begin to recognize the sacred woven through every aspect of life.

May we move through this week with awakened eyes, open hearts, and a renewed awareness that we live, move, and have our being in Divine Love.

This Memorial Day gathering was a beautiful reminder that remembrance is not only about honoring those who served, but also about honoring the love, sacrifice, courage, and humanity that continue to live on through the people we’ve lost.

Through heartfelt stories, prayers, candles, and shared memories, our community came together to celebrate parents, spouses, veterans, friends, and loved ones whose lives created lasting ripples of kindness, service, and compassion. From military service to family devotion, each story reflected the deep connections that shape who we are and the healing that comes when we remember together.

May we continue to carry forward their love, their wisdom, and the peace they hoped to leave in this world. ❤️

Unity’s SpiritGroups give you an opportunity to connect with people in a deep, meaningful, and fulfilling way. They create a safe space where you are heard, appreciated, and loved for who you are. They are designed to inspire infinite connections, one small group at a time, by coming together in a spirit of love and support.

You are invited to participate in Unity on the Avenue’s current SpiritGroup, "Working with the Law II.” To sign up, please contact the group host (below), or look for the sign-up sheet in the back of the sanctuary.

“Working with the Law I” SpiritGroup. This group has concluded. Celebration Sunday will be held on May 24.

“Working With the Law II.” This SpiritGroup will be offered on Tuesdays from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m., beginning on June 9. This SpiritGroup will be led by Margarete Ralston.

About: This group is based on the book, “Working with the Law: 11 Truth Principles for Successful Living,” by Raymond Holliwell. This timeless classic provides 11 universal principles for success, abundance, and personal transformation, drawing from spiritual, metaphysical, and biblical teachings. “Working with the Law I” covered the first five laws. "Working With the Law II" will cover the remaining six laws. The group listens to insightful presentations by Bob Proctor and Mary Morrissey, who each wrote an in-depth series on each law in Holliwell’s book. Then they discuss practical applications to daily life.

There are moments when a message doesn’t just speak to the mind — it awakens something deeper within the soul.

This Sunday at Unity on the Avenue, our special guest, Rev. Rachel Harrison, shared a powerful and compassionate reflection on transformation, awakening, and learning to move through these changing times with love instead of fear.

Through stories, wisdom, humor, and heartfelt honesty, she reminded us that even in uncertain times, we are not powerless. We are creators of resonance, carriers of light, and participants in a greater unfolding.

The Gift of Life | Unity on the Avenue | 5.10.26

This Mother’s Day at Unity on the Avenue, Spiritual Leader Lori Smith shared a deeply moving message about the sacred power of nurturing, compassion, gratitude, and the gift of life.

Honoring not only mothers, but all those who have guided, encouraged, protected, and loved us along the way, Lori reminded us that the “mothering spirit” can appear through grandparents, teachers, mentors, friends, caregivers, and even strangers whose kindness changes the course of a life.

Through touching personal stories, reflections on prayer and spiritual connection, and inspiring examples of compassion transforming lives, we were invited to remember the divine spark within ourselves and others — and to never underestimate the healing power of simply listening, believing in someone, and sharing our light.

The service concluded with a beautiful meditation of gratitude, remembrance, and love that touched every heart in the sanctuary.

May this message remind us all to “not leave home without” centering ourselves in Spirit — and to carry love, compassion, and gratitude into every life we touch. 💜
